The staff were amazing from the time we arrived. Martha recieved us well and got us checked in, very freindly, helpful and welcoming. Ibrahim explained all the available tours they had on offer. The resturant staff were also so wonderful. A big thank you to Harouna, Theresa and their manager. Thank you to Peter, for the supprise dinner and beautiful romantic dinner setting in the garden on our final night.. To Fathma, and the housekerping team who were on top of things, servicing our room promptly. Very neat and clean.. Thank you to Mariam the massage therapist for the relaxing and professional service . To all the Barman who prepared our drinks, the entertainment team and finally to each and every staff member at Filao Beach Resort who contributed towards ensuring that we had such a wonderful stay and superb experience. GermanyIt’s not an area with the most beautiful beach you can find on Zanzibar. If you’re interested in experiencing the white sandy beach and the ocean, you can join a boat trip on some days and visit the neighboring hotel for a day of beach relaxation.
We had an amazing stay at this hotel! The rooms were beautifully clean and comfortable, and the breakfast each morning was delicious. Every detail was perfect, and the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. On our last night, we were surprised with a special romantic dinner prepared by the hotel at the pool, which made our experience even more memorable. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable stay!

SpainThe beach tide is complicated and never very good for swimming. Also there are determined tour and souvenir sellers so you cannot easily relax on the beach. Far away from everything.
Nice bungalows and beautiful grounds. Friendly staff. Many nights they bring in local entertainment or have an event.

South AfricaUnfortunately the beach was not very good and not the type of white sandy beach expected in Zanzibar. There was limited choice for a restaurant and therefore had to stay at the hotel to eat dinner. The dinner was a buffet at $20 per head and there was no other choice available.
All the rooms faced the garden and the pool, but ours was very close to the restaurant. It was a good size and clean.

United KingdomPrice of the food and drinks if not all inclusive (2 or 3 times the price of anywhere else. All meals are a buffet. It was cheaper and nicer to eat next door. Real shame it was the one part that really let it down. I felt the staff were a bit embarrassed about that. Not their fault at all atm but other than the hotel next door there is nowhere to go. All excursions are quite a travel. I recommend short stay here to relax.
Looked nice. Very quiet. Did a very special meal for us on the last night. That was very special and really made the stay enjoyable. Staff were so nice!!

ZambiaThey don’t have any phone in the room to communicate with reception, the stairs to reception from the room is quite a distance. We also didn’t enjoy walking along the beach as there are several men there that keep walking up to you trying to sell activities and all which was quite annoying.
The view of the trees around the pool and a bit of the beach were stunning! It’s clean and very peaceful.

HungaryFor me is totally unacceptable to inform me just one day prior of my arrival the hotel is not accepting guest.
I've booked room at this hotel and one day before my arrival I've got a message via Booking saying that, there is a renovation and the hotel is relocating me an another hotel "which is just a few km away". The few km means that, across the bay is about 3-4 km, but on road is more than 40 km...at a totally different location. Be careful with this hotel because even they said, there is a renovation, they still accepts booking to this facility. At least I could cancel my reservation free of charge...but this is the minimum.

United KingdomThe hotel mainly accommodates French guess and all the entertainment was geared to that and thus anyone who wasn't French was excluded.
food was reasonably ok. After a terrible arrival, when our booked room was not available because it had been given to someone else that day. Reception staff seemed to have no idea we were arriving and so the first three nights we spent in operate rooms. However the Mange then resolved this and we were upgraded. So after a very bad arrival the Manager made sure we had as good a stay as possible.
