Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe room in the booking had big windows but we got a room with one window facing a wall.
From check in to check out, the staff were friendly and helpful, which was a nice change from the hotel we had come from. They gave us all the information and it was service with a smile. Each time we walked in and out of the hotel, we were greeted with smiles and hellos.

SwitzerlandOnly minus was there was only one working elevator (we were on the 7th floor) and the breakfast could be improved.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. Always very welcoming from the doorman, reception and breakfast staff. The wine hour and walking tour are a great bonus. Rooms are a great size for NYC. Location is perfect, away from very busy streets but very central and many things available nearby.

United StatesRooms were small (including tight bathrooms), but that's par for the course for NYC. Breakfast at the restaurant was a tad chaotic but included in our price, so can't complain (and it was good).
Fantastic staff - very friendly and helpful, extremely responsive to our requests/concerns. Great location in NYC, easy to hop on Subway and walkable to many desirable areas.

United KingdomNice boutique hotel in Tribeca area. Convenient subway stop just outside of hotel with trains to get quickly to midtown or uptown. Breakfast had a nice selection of foods. The room I had was very small with not much space for 2 people with luggage but the bed was comfortable. Enjoyed the weekday social hour with wine and took advantage of the free walking tour offered. Short walking distance to 911 Memorial, City Hall and Wall Street.

United StatesWe have stayed at The Frederick for many years. There have always been pluses and minuses. The staff members at all levels of service are exceptional. The facility is clean and quite convenient for our needs. The rooms have never been considered large, but the room at our last stay didn’t provide enough space to place a suitcase. It became comical as we navigated the space.

Amazing location, right by the subway so you can just hop on and go where you like. Nice room if a little dark as I didn't have a city view. A very comfortable stay

United StatesThe only parking option was a garage not affiliated with the hotel persay. Staying at the Frederick got you perfered parking even if it was full and a discount BUT it's 53 dollars with discount and they only could figure out how to give it to me 1 of the times I used it.. so it was 63 the next day. When I only parked for 9 hours, which should've been at a lower rate( kind of a poop show) I think the music from the bar travels up to the 2nd floor, so while it was muffled, I could still hear the beats that kept me awake ( didn't bother anyone I was with)
This hotel is a lovely old-fashioned looking brick hotel right in Tribeca. The room was super clean and well designed and decorated. What I found appealing was it looked old fashioned but was very modern inside.. The staff was nice and helpful. Has a bar and is attached to a restaurant. I tried neither, but they are available, which is nice. Definitely has a non chain feel. Fairly quiet and elevator was always available This is not a dislike, but be aware... rooms are small we had 2 double beds and the room felt very much like a ships cabin. Just fit the 2 beds with a desk touching both and a chair width between them narrow walkways on sides. The bathroom was small but used space efficiently, so if you are a big spread out person or a big packer, it might be vexing.

United KingdomAdditional charges could be more obvious and mini fridge could be a standard in the room.
Location was great as subway right outside the hotel. The hotel was comfortable and clean but size would be larger. There is mini bar in the room but the additional fridge needs to be requested from the reception. Minibar cannot be used as a fridge or there is a fee for it. There are number of items left in the room like snacks crisps and they are all chargeable dearly but no price list left so be careful not to be charged extra. On the check out I was told there was additional charge for charging kit which I didn’t use and for film whjch I didn’t watch - for some reason it showed on the system I did but it wasn’t true. I explained and it was subsequently removed from the charge list but be mindful of that. There is no obvious signs anywhere about extra charger. The breakfast was lovely and good variety fresh and clean eating spaces. The staff were fantastic and took very good care of us, were very friendly and supportive. We were offered glass of wine of Prosecco sometimes when returning to hotel which was lovely. Overall I would highly recommend.

United StatesSize of room was pretty tight. I’ve stayed in about 10 nyc hotels and it was smallest square footage. No dresser, no luggage stand to lift luggage from floor.

CanadaThe bathroom! Unfortunately the water pressure in the shower was just ok and it was very difficult to adjust the water temperature as there was a long lag time between adjusting the handle and the change in temperature. The sink in the vanity didn’t drain properly. And the wall-mounted shampoo container was empty. Just staying two nights so didn’t want to bother calling rooms service and waiting for someone to fill it up. Also no hooks in the bathroom. Granted there was a hook on the bathroom door but it was taken up by the hotel bathrobe for purchase (which I did not). The tiled map of Manhattan in the shower stall was a nice detail
The location couldn’t be beat. I liked the design choices and the lobby is very chic. I had a quiet room with a window facing a wall and that is what I wanted as I wouldn’t want to dace W. Broadway, very loud.
