Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesI was booked to be at the hotel for several days. I went to my room one night after visiting my daughter at menlo park and was startled to find others in my room and my belongings were gone! This absolytely shocked me, scared me (where ws my stuff) and truly was unacceptable. I loved this hotel. but they never compted me for their error. And, I was missing confidential papers that were taken from my room
I liked the rooms, the room service, the staff

United StatesThis was our fourth time staying at this particular Fairmont. But nothing was up to a five star hotel standard! Our room was dusty, the alarm was never said to the correct time. They were no slippers in the room. When we inquired about them, they said you should ask “they’re not automatically left in your room”!!! The reading light on my side of the bed was not working! Another light in the room was not working. Furthermore, when we brought it up to the front desk staff, we were told that since you booked your reservation through a third-party, there’s nothing we can do for you. Maybe next time when you come and stay, we can provide you with better service. Frankly, there would NOT be a next time! This is not what you expect from Fairmont!! in the morning when we wanted to leave our luggage. There was nobody to help, my husband ended up going outside and bringing the luggage carrier!!! so much for staying at a five star hotel!
Beautiful historic hotel with a gorgeous lobby.

United StatesWe wish the breakfast in the area downstairs would have been better for the cost. It was over $120 for two of us to eat at a breakfast buffet that was mediocre at best. This was our only negative experience.
The Fairmont always feels magical; especially at Christmas. We love the history and the central location.

United StatesFood at Laurel Court needs something "special". Prime rib was cut a bit thin for the $75 price tag. Brunch was good, but not excellent for the $45 plus all the other extra costs they tack on to the bill.
The hotel is a beautiful work of art. There is a regal feeling when you step onto the Fairmont establishment. The hotel had its grand christmas tree and wonderfully fragrant gongerbread house. The stary was great! We had an excellent hamburger from room service at 12:00pm. It was hot, juicy and delightful. The fries were excellent and crispy as well. The dinner and breakfast brunch at Laurel Court seamed a bit dull and overprices in comparison to the food from room service.

United StatesWe were a group of friends and there was really no place to sit and talk. The lobby was full due to Christmas (understandable), but there are no places to sit and have conversations. The bar was either closed or full. Plus, you are located in a food dessert and there is no place to get a light meal in the afternoon because the dining room was only serving special Christmas Tea and room service said it would take at least 2 hours to get food to you. It's a steep walk to/from the hotel and any other food locations are generally a taxi ride away. The one area to gather closed at 10.
Room was very comfortable, view was great. Nice big bath tub to lounge after lots of walking.

AustraliaI understand the reason you have a mandatory tip but if would be better if you added it to the bill as a service charge that was built in rather than being chased for it. Parking very exxy but could find places nearby so it was ok to do that.
