Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

NetherlandsWe were about a week into our trip in South Africa and were getting sick of always dining out. We wanted to eat in, but making something light and refreshing. We didn't realise that we weren't allowed to use the kitchens unless we booked the cottages. We ended up pivoting to a charcuterie and fruit plate instead. We understood these precautions though, as there were likely business and safety issues to consider. Besides the prohibited use of kitchens, everything else was super lovely.
7 Koppies was probably our favorite stay out of all the hotels in our South Africa trip. It really lived up to the intention of being a comfortable home for guests. Before we even got started, the staff at 7 Koppies was communicative, giving us detailed directions to get to the hotel. On our drive in, we had to stop the car to take in the stunning views. We knew immediately we'd be in for a treat. As soon as we arrived, staff helped us get settled and gave us a lovely tour of the grounds. From the master kitchen where available fruits and snacks were ready to the large pool with beautiful views of the mountain vista, we wanted to stay. In fact, we didn't even leave the grounds for one of the days, preferring to relax by the pool and spend time at the sauna rather than drive across wine country. Day and evening staff were warm and friendly throughout; we even spent some time with Anuk (affectionately known as "Nuki"), the lovely guard dog who was an added bonus. Our favorite thing to do was simply bring a bottle of wine and watch the sunset. Cannot overstate how wonderful it was to stay here. We only wish we extended it by a day or two.

SwitzerlandNot much assistance with luggage, not very proactive staff, water leaking into room when it rains. Complaints on a high standard but overall value for money isn‘t too great.

A Perfect Retreat Outstanding Service From the moment we arrived, Arty (Artwell) and the team provided exceptional service - attentive, thoughtful, and genuinely caring. Arty helped make our stay memorable, anticipating our needs and helping us make the most of our time in Cape Town. Beautiful Design & Atmosphere We stayed in the Valley Suite, which like the rest of the property, is a designer's dream - thoughtfully planned with impressive attention to detail. One of our favourite experiences was gathering with other guests around the open fire in the evenings, creating a warm, communal atmosphere. Surprisingly Excellent Dining While 7Koppies describes their evening meals as "simple," the food was great. Despite the modest selection, each dish was perfectly prepared. We dined in more often than going out, enjoying meals by the fire - a definite 10/10. Location: Perfectly Remote 7Koppies is located about 15-20 minutes by taxi/Uber from Franschhoek. For us, this was ideal - offering stunning views and peaceful surroundings while still providing easy access to Franschhoek and the surrounding vineyards. Overall Experience Our stay exceeded expectations in every way. The combination of exceptional service, beautiful design, great food, and ideal location made for a perfect retreat. We're genuinely looking forward to a return visit.

GermanyThe prices are in the upper range, even compared to similar accommodation in the Western Cape.
We had an awesome 2 day stay at 7 Koppies. It’s not easy to find also the uber cannot pick you up as it is so secluded. However, it’s a very private and well maintained resort offering a stunning view into the Franschhoek valley. The breakfast is outstanding. We loved the granola, fruit selection and other options offered on the menu. The staff is very attentive and friendly. If you are looking for a few days of peace and quiet, this is the place for you.

United Arab EmiratesThe breakfast buffet (that comes on top of the a la carte menu) was quite limited, only yoghurt. granola, toasts and fruits. I would have loved to see some cold cuts / pastries / cheese etc.
Gorgeous property with an incredible view. Very tastefully decorated, you immediately feel "at home". Spacious and comfortable rooms. Kind and helpful staff. Great location. Remote and quiet, yes close to major places to visit in the area.
