the restaurant only had half of the products available and we ate the same thing for 3 days, and the hostel gets loud on weekends and for the Tugela falls tour offered by the hostel, we had a terrible experience with the guide who wasn't professional: didn't inform us about the payments modalities beforehand, split the groups in two leaving one part unattended and myself completely alone and lost on top of the falls for an hour.

this hostel is truly a backpackers hostel, basic amenities but good value for money

It is a beautiful location with a very sociable hostel atmosphere. The staff is very friendly and eager to help with activities nearby. However, the place is also in need of maintenance/renovation and our bunk bed was very wobbly which made for a slightly uncomfortable sleep.

    - the room we booked had a stove advertised. No stove was provided and no compensation was given. - staff were often not present at the reception desk or any areas. Had to walk into the staff kitchen to find them - property is completely unresponsive on booking.com - can’t book tours in advance, the hostel had next to no guests - property is clean but not maintained.

    - good facilities. Hot tub can be filled on request apparently, we didn’t go in but they filled it for Saturday night where all the locals came and had a party.

The room is very small, but OK with good beds. No fridge in the room. The restaurant was disappointing. We ordered raviolis, that were supposed to be filled with butternut and ricotta, but they were almost empty, just flat pasta. We were alone the first evening, and a few more travellers the second. However the bar was very quiet that friday evening.

Nice place, with a refreshing swimming pool, welcome after a very hot day. Friendly staff.

There was a function on and the DJ set up outside right next to our room with two children sleeping. Super loud music blasting until midnight. It was a backpackers after all... so we didn't complain.

Room was in order well presented. Location was great. Cool bar and vibe and facilities, especially for backpackers.

The loud music past midnight on Saturday night. Guests continued singing past 01:00am. The positioning of the dance floor directly next to accommodation facilities is not ideal. All good and well to have a party but not all guests get involved. Consideration for those guests and situating the dance floor away from rooms would be appreciated. The inclusion of shelves or a small cabinet in the double room or bathroom as there is no storage available. We used the bottom bunkbed to lay out items. Not practical if there are more than 2 people in that particular room. A small bar fridge in the corner behind the door is suggested as the other double rooms had this facility available.

Maria was fantastic and the food was delicious. The bar was vibey and the decor is unique. The staff were friendly and helpful!

We had a private room, and when we entered the room, the bed had a lot of insects (small and big) on top of the bed including between the sheets which was not a nice surpir (please note that we did not see bed bugs but general insects). It would seem the room was not checked before it was given to us. We know that this was not a city hostel however we do believe that beds should be insect-free regardless of the location. The receptionist did change the sheets upon request but she did not seem happy to do so. Also the Internet does not reach the rooms so you have to use it at the common areas.

The location was good and there were a lot of tours. Muzu, our tour guide was excellent. He was very friendly and gave us a lot of information. We did the Lesotho and the tugela falls with him and cannot but recommend him as a guide. The hostel had good food and the facilities were good.

The bathrooms are a bit old but adequate.

This is a great place to stay for travellers on a budget. The private rooms are nice and the outlook from them lovely. We did two of their tours and they were excellent. It's a good base for exploring the region. The breakfast and dinners available were good. Staff are very friendly and helpful.

Although we know this is a pet friendly place, there was a big dog allowed and this dog was not on leash and it was going everywhere, where it was not supposed to be. It came into the bar area and the braai area. I had even told the lady at the bar counter that they have a cat there and this dog is getting ready to attack the cat but she just played a deaf ear at what I said. I had to eventually take my child away from the jacuzzi area and go back to our room because she was afraid of this dog. My baby is 3 years old and she like small dogs but afraid of big dogs. Now we had to keep away because of this dog was let free to do whatever he wanted to do. My sister has a indoor dog and we made arrangements for someone to look after him because the website states clearly that dogs are allowed but must be on leash and not allowed in those areas, so we didn't bring him. So how can you set rules and not follow it because this big dog was allowed to be free everywhere and anywhere. As I said I know this place is pet friendly but with rules, so why were the rules not followed. Had I known that animals are allowed to be free at this place, I would have not booked here because of my baby.
