Very warm welcome into a beautifully decorated hotel overlooking the pool area. Nothing was too much trouble for the friendly staff. Huge attention to detail with room facilities eg. Hot water bottles and a daily suggested itinerary made our stay even more comfortable. Breakfast was amazing all so fresh and lots of choice, we also enjoyed the cakes in the afternoons! Will definitely be coming back and recommending to all family and friends. Felt very safe in the area too.

One of the best places I have ever stayed and can fully recommend it to any age no matter if you tavel alone? In a group or with family. Small hotel with an eye for the detail. Nothing to compare with the bigger ones. Super friendly and helpful staff. Day started with healthy breakfast followed by homebaked cake and wine bar set up in the afternoon. Centered and secure location

Room was a bit small but the outdoor space and the lobby were very nice to sit in. Lighting in the room was not great. Good reading lights in bed are important given that there is not a chair to read in. The overhead light was dim too. At night and when the curtains were closed, it was a bit too dark for us to see.

Well decorated. Exceptionally clean, great breakfast. Fantastic staff. Overall, we loved our stay and would recommend highly.

The bedroom was a little on the small side.

A warm, friendly welcome from Luca set the tone for a very enjoyable stay. Nothing was too much trouble and the team made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. Our upgraded room was spotlessly clean and well equipped and we enjoyed the luxury of having a lounge area to relax in, although our bedroom was a little small. Breakfast each morning was excellent with plenty of choice. The pool is a good size with comfortable sun loungers, perfect for whiling away a few hours in the sun. The hotel is ideally placed a short walk from Kloof Street which has a fantastic selection of cafes, bars and restaurants. A special mention to Luca who went above and beyond in organising an Uber to deliver a forgotten Kindle to the airport before our flight departed. We cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.

Excellent small private hotel in Cape Town. Lovely part of the city that felt safe for a solo traveller and easy access to Uber Black to the main part of the city and attractions. Lovely team of staff that are friendly and help with all your questions. Lovely breakfast each morning and rooms look exactly as depicted in the photos. Highly recommend.

Nothing, the place is amazing, the attention to detail something many business aspire to but few can achieve.

Honestly it was fantastic, we stayed between Christmas and New Year so a busy time for the Team but Patience, Luca, Tash Gladice and the whole team were exceptional. The rooms, the atmosphere, the food and the location are all amazing. I genuinely can't tell you what an amazing gem of a hotel this is and I'm not sure hotel is the right word, it feels more like a family house with owners who have amazing taste and really understand their guests. If you don't like staying at Derwent House I think that may say more about you then it does about them lol So much I could say, but the crux of it, would we go back again, in a heartbeat, would I recommend it, I would recommend it to our Mums :)) Thanks for making the stay what it was Sam and John

We cannot speak more highly about this place. DH is a colourful warm & friendly little sanctuary. The staff are all amazing, the room was so unique with lovely views of Table Mountain & the sea in the distance. Lots of lovely touches that made our stay so memorable. The breakfasts are delicious with lots of options & daily specials. They bake cakes that you can help yourself to in the afternoon & well stocked wine & gin bar on honesty basis Pool area is lovely with a hot tub & plenty of comfortable chairs / beds Nothing was too much trouble Amazing place that is a must stay Well done DH team !

This small hotel is in a great location for exploring Cape Town and a minute away from Kloof Street (with many great restaurants). The staff were all so friendly and very helpful. Luca the manager and Trish helped us with planning our trips out and bookings. The breakfasts were superb and the hotel interiors very colourful and cheerful.

I can't tell you enough how much I loved my stay here. I am so fortunate that with my job I get to stay in some incredible hotels, but honestly? Nothing compares to Derwent House. As a lone female traveller, it's rare I stay somewhere and feel so safe. Here I could totally relax. Unfortunately I was really unwell whilst on holiday and the team really looked after me. Nothing was too much trouble. Even the breakfast pack made for me when I went on an early morning excursion was perfect. The attention to detail was also incredible; a daily newspaper on the breakfast specials, a chocolate on my pillow with tomorrow's weather forecast and a chilled bottle of water made me smile every day and made me feel so much better. I will return as soon as I can. Magical.
