Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

South AfricaNot enough TV chanel choices.
The breakfast was enjoyable and enough. I was happy to see all the police presence in the streets.

South AfricaI wish we'd gotten a warning about the rooftop parties on Friday and Saturday evening. Though they finished around 11pm, staying in room 314 meant the sound ended up amplified even with the windows closed. The bathroom door also didn't close properly.
The location was fantastic, everything was in walking distance. The free breakfast was delicious.

South AfricaThe bathroom "door". A sliding door that did not fit in the door frame and got stuck. Like being on a toilet "next to" the bed.

MauritiusNoise from discotheque next door playing very loud music until early morning. One Saturday night, party hosted by non-hotel guests with extreme loud music vibrating in the rooms Had the worst rump steak ever in SA. It was like it was defrosted, fried and served. The manager did apologize and compensated it with free dessert.

AustraliaLoud music was prevalent from neighbouring venues in the front rooms on Long Street. I would suggest booking rooms at the back of the hotel to reduce this disturbance that can go to 2am.
The on site restaurant made it easy for meals during the evening to eliminate venturing out at night which may have been unsafe.

BrazilOne thing to note is that the street can get quite lively at night due to the many bars and clubs in the area, which may result in some noise. Additionally, it’s important to stay cautious while walking in the evening as there can be interactions with homeless individuals, which might feel uncomfortable at times. Despite this, the overall experience was fantastic, and I would still highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Cape Town!
I had an amazing stay at the Grand Daddy Boutique Hotel! The location is absolutely strategic, right in the heart of Cape Town, making it easy to explore the city’s main attractions. The hotel offers great value for money, with its unique design and comfortable accommodations. A special mention goes to the staff – they were incredibly welcoming, attentive, and always ready to assist with any request. Their exceptional service truly made my experience even more memorable. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Cape Town!

South AfricaArea is incredibly noisy - from clubs, to cars backfiring - did not really get a good night’s sleep. However we did spend a Saturday night there, so maybe not the best decision on our side. We are tall - all in excess on 1.7m - beds could not accommodate us all. Room rates the same as some 5 star hotels near by with historic luxurious feel and soundproof rooms. Great for 1 night.
A truly unique stay - I have never slept in a camper/ trailer. Beautifully made up and functional.

MauritiusThe room was way too small for the price
For our first night in Cape Town, we picked this centrally located hotel which made it easy to walk to nearby attractions and areas of interest. The antique elevator and quirky decor gave me strong Alice in Wonderland vibes as if I had stepped right into a fairytale. Our room overlooked Long Street which remained busy till late but in spite of the traffic, we managed to sleep soundly. Breakfast was generous servings of scrambled eggs, mushrooms, toast and fresh coffee while we could help ourselves to blueberry pancakes, muffins, yogurt and fruit on the side. All rooftop trailers were fully booked when we were making our reservation but we hope to stay in one of those designer accommodation on our next visit to The Grand Daddy.
