Marrakesh is one of those places now that you would visit once but not return. In my view it’s way overpriced,(As expensive now as many countries in Europe.)Overcrowded and the shops in the Medina are a complete scam.People trying to get money out of you at every corner. Now just another exploited tourist trap iam afraid.

I’m still processing it all.
I’m still processing it all. The Medina was initially a culture shock—but once I adjusted, it felt magical. It had its own rhythm. I felt safe, and the people were incredibly beautiful, both inside and out. I would absolutely go back.
Make sure to explore the new city as well—it offers a striking contrast. The place is layered in so many ways: poor yet rich, chaotic yet culturally ordered, intense yet deeply kind. I’m still in awe because it’s not just one thing. It defies easy explanation.
Surprisingly, I wanted more—I had a great time. I often say it takes three days to adjust to a city; in this case, the adjustment journeyed from culture shock to magical wonder.
If you’re a foodie, the food scene is fabulous—truly brilliant. Istanbul comes to mind as a comparison, but it’s really an unfair one. Each place is its own experience.
GO!!!

We loved Marrakech, it is a very vibrant and exotic city.
We loved Marrakech, it is a very vibrant and exotic city. The Majorelle gardens and the YSL museum are a must! Jemaa el Fna square is worth the visit and strolling around the Medina y chaotic but you get to see all the city flavors, motorbikes, bikes, donkeys, etc, all running trough small streets. At our point of view, Bacha caffe and also the Saadies tombs are not worth the time, but I would not miss the Medersa Ben Youssef.
Also, In the Riad, they should have told us that when you are walking through the Medina, sometimes there are groups of young people that tells you that the road that you are pretending to walk is closed, BE CAREFUL!! They will try to robe you! We had 2 encounters but I just did not listen to them and we walked the other way, but I met a US citizen that he was assaulted that same way. But generally the city feels and is secure.

A very interesting city and that can be largely covered on foot.
For me the latest DK Top 10 book did the job of tour guide very well.
A lot of building working going on right now (May 2025) which is a bit dirty and inconvenient as some streets and tourist attractions are only partially open - but when they finish the works, it will be beautiful. This is probably a catch up of work that has to be done after the earthquake.
But you have to be street smart - don't fall for the "the market is closed today - follow me to something interesting instead".
And if having motorbikes whizzing past you on the footpaths in the souks is going to stress you out, then just don't go - some people find it stressful whereas others manage to cope and move on to the next stall.
Great food and we found some great rooftops with a cool vibe.
We missed going out of town of a couple of tours as not enough time, but we met others who said that they were fabulous - overnight in the desert and a balloon ride.

The traffic was crazy! Do not attempt driving whilst there.
The traffic was crazy! Do not attempt driving whilst there. The markets were great and once mastered the haggling, it was an education. Eating out was lovely and with a bit of googling on Trip Advisor we found some amazing restaurants which served alcohol. Les Jardin du Lotus was a real find, such an atmosphere, do book though.
My negative would be the use of animals. I was appalled to see monkeys on chains in the square at the Medina and snakes. The number of horses and carriages was upsetting to me. The horses did not always look in good condition and no shade or water when they were in between being used.
At the waterfalls at Ouzoud, which were lovely, there were donkeys and tourists were encouraged to ride them up the hill with steps and slippery tiles. Not nice to see.
People were friendly and we felt safe but not amongst the traffic!

The pool is nice , quite big and never too crowded. The hotel is a short taxi ride away from the main square. The pool bar has a ok selection of drinks for example coffee, alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages. Staff were nice and helpful. AC works fine and keeps the room cool even when the outdoor temps reached +36C ( 97F). Food selection was good. With all inclusive you get breakfast, lunch, and dinner it was nice to get bottled water to the room.
We booked an old town whole day tour trough the hotel, which was so worth it.
The entire facility and experience was incredible. Forget 5 star, this was 6 star in the middle of Medina and hustle bustle of Marrakech. Staff were so accomodating and professional, rooms and facilities were immaculately clean and there were so many extra incidentals - like complimentary Chanel perfume in the bathroom!! The hotel and its amazing staff completely exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend this haven in Marrakech!
Such a good spot, right behind Jemaa El Fnaa, but with all the luxury you expect from a 5 star hotel.
Good WIFI, beautiful surroundings and absolutely lovely front desk staff. Abdelatif and Abdelatif (from 2 different shifts) were helpful and amazing as usual and there was lady who helped me at check in (who’s name also began with A (maybe Alina)) that are absolutely amazing. They are a reason to come back alone.
