On the scenic Queens Promenade, The Rutland Hotel is an elegant building on the Isle of Man.

Lovely location, right on the seafront with lovely views. It is a typical old fashioned seaside hotel so while not luxury it was very clean, quirky (especially the lift!) and the staff were exceptional, very friendly and very helpful. We didn’t eat there but the dining room looked very nice and a good menu. The location is good especially for the electric railway. It is probably a 15 minute walk into the town where the restaurants are. Overall, good value for the money

    Lots to do

Lots to do Electric tram to Laxey (change for Snaefell) Ramsay Local buses connect all over the island Steam train to Port St Mary/Castletown Horse drawn tram along the prom Buy a 1-5 day pass to access all travel (works out a lot cheaper than paying individually Good variety of eateries. Douglas is the largest town on the IOM so here is where you would do your main shopping e.g. it has large Tesco's, M&S, etc, but it also has a peaceful charm and high safety rating. Pace of life is slow and Family friendly, so not for teenagers much. We loved it but we are in our 60's :) Please note local steam train is good but Electric Tram to Ramsey is even better. Douglas is a good base to explore IOM from.

Douglas has good bus , tram and railway routes across the whole island . I normal drive and for a change used the transport. You can book a day saver bus ticket £7.50 all day travel to anywhere on the island. The holiday pass is £ 40 per adult but lets you in to all the attractions ,so use it more than twice and its payed for its self. Wish I knew it before I traveled. Loads of good placed to eat out and I did not see any litter or graffiti anywhere on the island .

I love the Isle of Man, I've been 3 times now, once in practice week, once in the TT race week and just now out side of TT week. I think the place is fantastic. Its really homey, clean, locals are just spot on people. Very little crime, stunning scenery, great pubs, bars restaurants, lots of history, great for hiking, biking. lovely Glens. Im a fan of the place. It reminds me how the UK used to be when I was growing up in the 80´s.

Good promenade for walking and exercise. Interesting views. Shopping area a bit run down but no more than many other towns. We liked the shared co-working space and cafe in the old market building near the harbour.

The property overlooks the sea, yet there's often parking right outside the entrance on Queen's Promenade for those exploring the island by car. Douglas's lively center is within walking distance, and there are local mini-markets and restaurants nearby. The room was incredibly comfortable and quiet as requested. The breakfast was excellent, prepared fresh to order. The hosts were very friendly. I had a wonderful stay and would definitely return if I'm lucky enough to visit the Isle of Man again.

The hotel was in a fantastic location on Douglas Promenade with the shops and bars a 1 minute walk away. The breakfast in the mornings was fantastic. This was a served breakfast rather than the usual self service buffet style. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There is a lovely comfortable lounge to sit in and they have a good bar menu if you don’t want to go in for a full dinner. Extensive drinks list as well. A very clean and comfortable hotel.

Beds were really comfy and the breakfast in the morning was spot on. Situated on the front of the promenade the location was perfect for shops and bars. When we visit the Isle of Man again the Cubbon House will be top of the list to book with. Hosts were friendly and efficient.
