Chatel is situated in a picturesque valley.
Chatel is situated in a picturesque valley. This village has everything needed for tourists: shops, cafes, restaurants.
We visited city during school vacations, so it was overcrowded. If you want to have a dinner at the restaurant, you have to book at least 1 day ahead. I would recommended Le Duche creperie, small family business with perfect food.
I did not like skiing in Chatel, as the slopes are splited into 3 parts far fro each other.

Chatel is pretty and seems to attract sunny days (maybe we were lucky). Access to the other Porte du Soleil villages is also excellent. The variety of skiing too is huge - possibly not for beginners as you need to have a couple of years experience on skis to make the most of the resort.
People in the village seemed very friendly and helpful.
Another side - my wife fell heavily and required helicopter to the medical centre in Chatel. We were skiing in Switzerland at the time. The support from the pisteurs who came to help - and the whole management of the accident was first class. The medical centre in Chatel (Dr J Granet) were brilliant and highly professional and helpful. Ask me if you want to know more about a heli rescue!

I’ve been visiting Chatel for 20 years both winter and summer. Skiing, hiking and biking. Brilliant village and fantastic location. Great restaurants and I particularly like Pici Pasta an Italian themed family owned restaurant. Very comfortable. Remember to book!

Skiing village.
Skiing village. Probably extremely nice and lively in Winter period. In September, it is clearly off-season period. Still it us very nice to walk around. Other big touristic places are relatively far away (>45 min. driving); Charmonix/Mont Blanc: 1.5h by car.

Free travel to ski resorts.
Free travel to ski resorts. Very clean town with plenty of good standard of eateries. Stunning views of the alps and valleys. Would love to visit again. Lovely old chalets but too many apartments being built. Needs more single family small chalets.
Great location for the ski bus to Linga, the stop is right by the hotel. It’s a 20 minute walk into Chatel town centre, or there is a bus link in the day. There’s a big supermarket a 2 minute drive away which was perfect!
The staff even put a kettle in my room after I requested one when booking which I really appreciated!
The chalet is very well located, about 200m away from the telecabin/gondola and the ski rental Sport 2000.
Amenities, access to slopes, shops, shutlle.
The chalet is extremely well equipped even with a boot heater room !
Having a jacuzzi or a spa after a day of ski is the perfect combo.
All very convenient.
The location is superb - the skibus stops are a few steps away from the property. Zero problems with parking: free, spacious, and always available. Also easy to go by skibus to Chatel centre.
There is a microwave - brilliant!
Very quiet place!
An Intermarche supermarket about 2.5 km, an easy ride by car.
Lovely friendly family run hotel. Thank you Marie and family for a very pleasant stay. Comfortable and clean rooms. Convenient location - ski bus right outside. Superb set evening meals with a nice selection of wines. 10 minute walk to village. Good value for money
Small but good appartment in the center of Chatel. Bakery, small supermaket and restaurants all nearby. few minute walk to the bus stop to get to the skilifts.
Apparment is very well equipped. Host was very helpfull and fixed a broken bathroom light the same day.
A spacious duplex apartment for a family of 3 or 4 persons. The ski bus stop is just next to the building. The nearest ski lift Linga is around 300 meters away.
The apartment owner is honest and the response is very fast.
We had stunning views from the balcony. Size of room was enough for us as a couple. The location was perfect for us to travel between France and Switzerland for day trips.
Staff were very friendly, always had a smile.
A lovely family run hotel with great facilities, location, food and staff. Really convenient for enjoying a first class skiing holiday in Chatel and the Portes du Soleil region.
