The location was ideal for us, we flew into knock airport and then drove to a show at the royal theatre in castle bar, grabbed a dominoes so didn’t really use the facilities but I’d have stayed forever if the childcare providers would’ve allowed.

Layout of the town is terrible.
Layout of the town is terrible. Very difficult to find things and drive in for someone who is not familiar with it. Restaurants are adequate; a good variety. Mostly need to be there because of services (solicitor, accountant, etc.). My understanding is that the hospital is not very good.

We as a family spent a long weekend in Castlebar.
We as a family spent a long weekend in Castlebar. A car is not required to get around town. There are many lovely cafes for lunch and we had dinner at Pizza Bros which was very reasonably priced and food was delicious. There are many other lovely restaurants to choose from. The Irish Bar looked great for lunch but due to it's popularity we didn't get to try it. Another great pub - John McHales. Went there on Sunday night and they had live music playing - great atmosphere. We found an Escape Room Experience called INSiDE which is about a 15 minute walk from the centre of town - highly recommend it... we really enjoyed it. We also went bowling and then hired a car and went to Westport for a day. We ate at The Towers Bar & Restaurant. Food was amazing.. We drove along the coast to Bertra Beach with amazing scenery along the way. Could have done with a few more days - great weekend

Castlebar is a substantial town, with some good amenities and shopping. It's a good base for exploring Mayo and is reasonably close to Knock, Westport and Killala. Happy to recommend Bistrot 1798 restaurant - we had a lovely meal there. Great ambience and food, and very efficient, pleasant service. Good for a date night.

Castlebar is a vibrant town plenty of shops on the doorstep of the Ellison hotel beside the lovely Peace Garden Memorial and the National Museum of Ireland is just out in Tourlagh. Some of the crossing are hard to manage with a wheelchair.
The buffet breakfast was fantastic 😊👍 the receptionist I dealt with was very friendly, I asked to borrow an umbrella as the weather was terrible before leaving for a gig. She was very helpful and managed to get me one which meant a lot to me at the time. Also the room was very comfortable and clean. Ideal too that there is plenty of parking right beside the hotel. Would definitely return.
The property grounds were gorgeous. The bar was well run except for the young fellow throwing the bottles into the skip. It sounded like they all broke and it did my head in.
The Mulberry was lovely for a super breakfast. We ended up having dinner in the bar as the menu was mote flexible.
The WiFi was excellent throughout.
We came by train to Castlebar. Rocklands Guesthouse is about 30 minutes walk from the station along quite busy road with no sidewalks mostly. Better take a taxi. There are two comfortable beds, hairdryer, TV and huge bathroom. House is very warm and you'll feel like home there. Hot beverages available.
The house is beautiful & a credit to its owner Mary who greeted us warmly & nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was outstanding. The house is very conveniently situated for Castlebar, Westport & many other places within County Mayo. No hesitation recommending to others & will definitely stay again.
I loved my room, Deborah was friendly, welcoming and kind. The Hotel is very well located, and the room was super comfortable. It was a stormy night, and the WiFi was a bit weak, but allowed me to work and do everything i needed.
I will go back to Kennys next time in Castelbar.
Fabulous B&B in the centre of Castlebar Town. Such friendly staff that can't do enough for you. Have stayed here multiple times while visiting family and plan on staying here again soon! Bedrooms are spacious, clean and beds are very comfortable! Breakfast is delicious too!
Location was good - close to Castlebar and Westport.
Beautiful house and garden. Felt safe and secure.
Bathroom had jacuzzi bath - main reason for booking - nice treat!
Breakfast very good and carefully prepared and served, given Covid restrictions.
I loved the convenient location near many attractions in Castlebar. The staff were friendly and were more than willing to let me leave my bags for bit before and after my stay (which was much appreciated for my solo travel on foot).
Very clean and comfortable house not too far from Castlebar town. Parking available. Nice, modern, simple interiors. Would stay again in this house. Everything was made available that you would need really.
The place was spotless. Facilities of a high standard. The host Majella was very friendly and accommodating. Only 15 mins to Westport and 5 mins to Castlebar. Ideal base for seeing the West.
I was doing The Wild Atlantic Way by Motorcycle and the staff let me park inside The Hotel which was a nice touch..
The room was very comfortable and I enjoyed The Full Irish Breakfast..
The room was comfortable enough for a night's rest. The breakfast was average. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The hotel overall should be 3 stars rated.
