Lovely pool, and gardens. Very friendly staff, comfy beds, and fantastic red wine. What else do you need.
Sitting in 120 hectares of Douro Valley vineyards, this traditional manor house has been converted into Portugal’s first wine hotel.

Quinta Nova is an amazing experience and the location and views are outstanding, the staff were lovely, although language was sometimes a challenge, they may have been a little short staffed while we were there as we did have to wait a while when we ordered drinks a few times. The position and overall experience was wonderful.
Located on the right bank of Douro River, in the centre of Pinhão village, Casas Botelho Elias offers self-catering holiday homes in a natural setting.

Great place to stay, the apartment is excellent, and has everything you will need (including basic cooking condiments salt pepper olive oil!)! The location is also super good! Pedro and Thiago are great hosts, and were very accommodating. It is super handy that they run the Cafe across from the train station so it is very easy if you need to store your bags before/after check-in. I highly recommend this place!
With mountain views, Dois Lagares House is situated in Pinhão and has a restaurant, luggage storage space, bar, garden, sun terrace and picnic area.

1) the location is super convenient for those travelling by car (there is a private parking), but also for those like us travelling without it - the train station is easily accessible by walking;
2) the views are stunning, especially from the living room where they serve breakfast;
3) the room was spacious and just adorable with big windows, a lot of light (and blackout curtains), a very comfortable bed and lovely terrace;
4) the owner organizes tours to their vineyards and a wine storage / mini-museum (on prior arrangement) and it is a must do even of it's the only thing you have time to do in Pinhaõ;
5) the breakfast is modest but everything is of high quality and it's difficult to stay hungry and again, the breakfast room is so adorable that it's pleasure to have breakfast there.
Located in a wine producing estate, on the right bank of Douro River, Quinta De La Rosa is a family owned property, 2 km from Pinhão. Rooms at this working vineyard are spread over several levels.

Wonderful View of the River and the valley from our room. Restaurant was very good. Also liked the Terrance restaurant wish it was open later.
Casa de Casal de Loivos offers intimate accommodation in a 17th-century manor house. It features an outdoor pool and a sun terrace, both providing stunning Douro Valley views.

Staff, extremely helpful. He made a reservation for us for dinner that night.
View from the house. The view is as stated in the listing. Gorgeous!
A dinner is provided, at an additional cost. We ate at a restaurant recommended by staff in town

I recommend staying at least a night at Douro hostel, a home away from home (and honestly the best hostel I've ever stayed in, more like a guest house). Staying a night will give you the time you need to explore the hills, vineyards. Make sure to pop into the local butcher for some incredible cured pork and cheese!

We drove to Pinhão.
We drove to Pinhão. The roads are slightly terrifying but the views are spectacular.
We were there in March so not everything was open. Best restaurant was Writers Place! The walking trails through the vineyards were fantastic!

The perfect spot to explore some of the lovely Quintas the Douro Valley has to offer. Would definitely recommend Pinhao as your base. We drove to Pinhao from Porto which was great for sight seeing and super easy. We visited the three Quintas that are within walking distance from Pinhao train station which were lovely. I’d recommend making a reservation in advance for dinners or lunch where possible. But we also did a few walk ins.

Pinhao is stunning. with good selection of restaurants in the evening. Beautiful wineries. As the wineries are built into cliffs the drive to Pinhao and around is not for the faint hearted. The roads are very narrow some without safety barriers. However if you can get past this it is worth it for the scenary. It is a sleepy village but everyone is so friendly. One or two days maximum is enough.

Excellent location on an S bend on the river Douro.
Excellent location on an S bend on the river Douro. Sleepy village atmosphere but with plenty of activities around the railway boat trips and quinta wine tasting. Some good restaurants. Wonderful views if you climb up through the village. Watch out for the dogs though - they are always enclosed but can be extremely aggressive.
The space is beautiful - a historic quinta, with views of the vineyards and the Douro river. It's a large property, with plenty of room for guests to feel private. Multiple pools, a trail through the vineyards, nice rooms.
The staff was also lovely - very kind, professional, went above and beyond. The restaurant was excellent for both dinner and breakfast.
The best part was probably the location - walking distance (15 minutes) into the town of Pinhao, but outside enough to feel like you're deep in the valley.
We arrived in Pinhao on bicycles 5 weeks into our tour of Portugal. From the moment we met Rita and Pedro, we became instant friends and they provided everything we needed with a huge smile on their faces. They provided a safe space for our bikes, whatever we needed for breakfast, local knowledge and even helped us by making some phone calls for us in Portuguese for which we didn’t have the language skills. They also run a small, wonderful cafe just across the street from the train station. This stay was a gem!
Beautiful property, stunning views, lovely room with huge deck, great shower, good breakfast, friendly staff. Best of all, the person at the front desk went way above and beyond at checkout. When it was impossible to book a taxi to take us to our next hotel in the area (Pinhao is a small town with very few taxis), she asked someone to fill in for her and drove us there herself in her own car. We were so appreciative, but she graciously brushed off our thanks. What a generous gesture!
I really enjoyed my stay at the Hostel. Pedro and Sara are great hosts. They make you feel as a part of their family. Pedro also provided several recommendations on restaurants and hiking in the Pinhao valley and helped with booking wine tastings. The rooms are very clean and well maintained. The hostel also has a beautiful terrace garden with nice views.
I highly recommend this place and look forward to visit them again.
Helena was an absolutely wonderful host! Also, many thanks to Daniela for all of her help and suggestions on local attractions! Helena's Family House is truly a home away from home - very clean, comfortable, spacious and in a great location just up the hill from downtown Pinhao. The delicious breakfast served every morning was a delightful perk too!
Amazing location in the Douro, perfect for exploring and wine tasting. Rooms were adorable, with amazing river views (get the view, you'll be happy you did), and amazing beds. Restaurant was delicious, highly recommend and delicious breakfast. Staff was very helpful in helping to reserve tastings at various vineyards. Easy onsite parking.
A very nice place to unwind and relax in following some hectic days travelling. The apartment was close to the centre, spacious and clean with everything you needed. The terrace afforded fabulous views over Pinhao and the Douro and pool looked inviting, although we didn't use it. Breakfast included.
Pedro was an attentive host and provided useful information for our arrival and out stay. Getting breakfast delivered to the door every morning was nice. The location is excellent for anyone using public transport and wanting to explore Pinhao and the environment on foot.
There were a few options for breakfast which was great and we were very happy with our choice.
The location is about 10 minutes from Pinhao but we knew this when we booked. The location is very nice and it was great to sit on the patio overlooking the vineyards.
I am usually suspicious of places where the reviews seem too good to be true, but every glowing review has been well earned. Pedro and Sara could not have been more friendly and hospitable hosts, and our experience in Pinhao was made by our stay in the hostel.
Incredible view. Join the evening meal at least one night to meet fellow travelers from different countries. Book a tour at the olive museum near the hotel. Visit the other Quintas at the top of the hill.
Pinhao is a lovely place and a beautiful location. Great selection of good quality restaurants. Beautiful scenery. Real nice 'vibe' about the entire place. Host was very helpful.
Perfect location. Isolated from the touristy places right outside. It was an oasis. I can not imagine staying anywhere else in Pinhao. It made the entire experience special.
Beautiful old-style Quinta overlooking Douro River and the town of Pinhao. Very spacious and comfortable room. The breakfast and dinner were both exceptional.
