Radisson Blu Hotel, Edinburgh City Centre, hotel in Edinburgh

Radisson Blu Hotel, Edinburgh City Centre features a spa/ fitness centre, bar and bedrooms with free Wi-Fi. Waverley train station is just a 5-minute walk away.

The hotel enjoys a fantastic location allowing guests to easily access the royal mile, taxis, buses, and also attractions in the New City. We had a Royal Mile facing room which is great for the view, and can be noisy at times, but not intrusively so. The shower in the bath is not ideal, and consideration should be given to shower only/ bath only rooms. I would prefer shower only rooms, not in a bath, but a separate shower cubicle. Living in South Africa, the fare offered for breakfast at the hotel is not really worth the spend, and grabbing a quick bite at one of the several establishments in the vicinity of the hotel is recommended.

FAQs about hotels in Edinburgh

A Feast for the Senses

A city of heritage, heart and of course Hogmanay, Scotland’s capital is vibrant and edgy. Whether or not you come for one of its many festivals, Edinburgh is quite simply a feast for the senses.

The wealth of Edinburgh sights ranges from Holyrood Palace to the Botanical Gardens, Princes Street to the Royal Mile. Overseeing them all is majestic Edinburgh Castle. Be there at sunset on a clear day to see the city below bathed in a warm, orange glow. Simply stunning.

Wandering the streets, the smell of fish and chips wafts by, with the unique twist of salt ‘n’ sauce – a must-try variation on this favourite dish. Follow it up with a smooth whisky and you’ll start to feel like a local.

For a taste of Scottish culture, a kilt-wearing busker often plays the bagpipes on Waverley Bridge, while traditional folk music can be heard in some Old Town pubs. Complete your stay with a rugby match at Murrayfield or a round at one of the city’s 14 golf clubs, and you’ll have the true Edinburgh experience.

Whether you are looking for hotels near Edinburgh Airport or accommodations in the city center, Booking.com has a great range to choose from.

    Bad place to eat healthily.

Bad place to eat healthily. Visibly obese teenagers show that food in education has yet to be introduced. There is no serious bread to be had, only sponge bread that I thought had disappeared in the last century. What is boasted as sour dough bread is a travesty, with sugar added. Sugar is for cakes. Organic vegetarian restaurants are absent. There are only two small organic food stores in this metropole. Public transport gets you almost everywhere, for a modest cap sum. Air quality is poor on account that all buses stil run on diesel. Electric buses for this small city should be mandatory.

Great places to eat, lots of walking and places of historical significance, lovely architecture, the Castle is amazing, the Chocolatarium is amazing, the Lind and Lime gin distillery is amazing. We had a lovely time exploring and getting to know the city and its lovely people. We are definitely going to go back there to do the activities and tours we missed out on the first time!

Plenty to do. Alexander McCall Smith’s Scotland Street book locations were the highlight of our stay. Highly recommended is Valvona and Crolla deli and cafe. National Gallery excellent. Scottish Parliament worth a visit. Cote good for food and the Cumberland Bar good too. Wetherspoons good for budget eating and drinking. Walking ok for fit people. Maybe too hilly for some. Princes Street and the Royal mile extremely busy.

Edinburgh seems to have a lot of tourist traps, but if you like that kind of thing, then it's the right place to be. Edinburgh Castle and viewing the Crown Jewels is always an interesting visit, although perhaps overcrowded. Harry Potter is milked, but fans get many treats and should opt for the walking Harry Potter Tour. The Royal Mile is fantastic with visitors spoilt for choice in terms of pubs and food. The buskers unfortunately seem to lack talent and should practice more. The adventure on the mile becomes tedious with too many outlets offering similar wares. The Edinburgh Dungeon is worth a visit, although the offering is based very much on the London Dungeon and pulled off with less aplomb. Calton Hill makes for excellent panoramic views and points of interest. We felt that the hop on - hop off busses was not worth the spend, as we found that most areas of interest could be reached on foot. The Camera Obscura attraction on the Royal Mile is a must visit and should be worked into the itinerary. Regrettably, we were not allowed to proceed with a pre-booked tour of The Reak Mary King's Close as the establishment cocked up our time slot. The National Museum of Scotland is worth a visit for history and science buffs, and admission is free. St Giles Cathedral is a must visit and the architecture is stunning. Its 900 odd year history is equally impressive. Franchised coffee shops offer the weary traveller great hot drinks and snacks.

We go to Edinbugh regularly from North Wales to visit the art galleries and walk around the city centre. It is a very beautiful place, very compact and easy to walk around. Lovely small hotel just outside the city centre, with on-site parking. The owner was lovely and very accommodating (we ended up with a very late check-in due to an impromptu climbing of Ben Nevis). Also very helpful as a travel guide with what to do and where to eat. Beautiful building and furnishings. Very quaint and spacious room with modern bathroom and excellent shower. On bus route, so easy access in and out of Edinburgh city centre without the hassles of driving and parking.

The location was amazing! We only had a short time in Edinburgh and this flat was a close walking distance to the bus tour pickups, walking tours and the Royal Mile. We were able to walk to the Castle, Greyfriar’s Kirkyard (and Bobby), our bus pickup for a day trip to Loch Ness, the Edinburgh Dungeon, shopping, Victoria Street, etc.! An amazing spot in Old Town Edinburgh! It was also right next to a bunch of Fringe Festival happenings (though we left the day it started.)

The hotel was extremely comfy and relax to stay in Edinburgh, the staffs were so friendly and nice. Don't be hesitated of the location, there is a bus station near to the hotel and easy to reach to the city centre. We made a change of date arrival at last minute, but the staff took us request, so lucky and so happy to extend one more day there, thanks for all. Amazingly convenient location: steps away from Edinburgh Castle, with the Royal Mile just outside the front door and Victoria street right behind the unit. The perfect home base for the Old Town area. Unit was spacious, comfortable and beautiful.

We didn't get breakfast. Ideal location beside trams/buses into city centre and also very near airport. Will definitely use this hotel again..
