I almost feel guilty raving about this place because even though Egyptians know about it and have been coming for decades, there are relatively few foreign tourists. This has allowed Marsa Matruh to retain its unique cultural authenticity, with its delightful Bedouin hospitality and scrupulously honest people. I hope it won't be invaded soon by too many foreign tourists. Avoid coming in July and August. The best months are May, early June, September and October. It's simply paradise.

The sea is the best along north coast however beaches and the provided service are not as good
If you care about the quality of stay you need to visit private beaches yet expect not to be satisfyingly served
Water facilities are not the best too
If you like local markets you will like the city if not i don't recommend as it's too crowded in high seasons

Marsa Matrouh city presents a compelling alternative to the North Coast due to its affordability and the abundance of beautiful, pristine beaches. In addition, there is a wide range of activities to enjoy and delectable cuisine to savor. I highly recommend considering Matrouh, particularly for families seeking an enjoyable vacation destination.

Avoid in summer.
Avoid in summer. Best beaches ever, but try in September end, as in summer it gets super crowded, annoying and not enjoyable at all. City needs lot of development and investors to build nice and affordable resorts.

Marsa Matruh itself which is 35km from the hotel we were staying at is a den for Islamic fundamentalists, salafis and moslem brotherhood. It is not a place to be visited. Jazz hotel is in Almaza Bay which is totally separate from Marsa Matruh.
We've really enjoyed staying at Porto Matruh so much, it was an awesome stay, there is daily maintenance for every little meter of the resort, the pools are super clean, the place is super quiet and very close to the common beaches of Marsa Matruh, very close to downtown.
Also, Mr. Magdy, the owner of the chalet is super friendly and responsive, he called us one day before to assure our arrival time, and he welcome us once we arrived, and we really appreciated his honest answers to anything we've asked for in general.
The staff are very helpful and hospitable by nature... a fine representation of the renown Egyptian hospitality.
The Hotel is part of a 5+ hotels resort with great landscaping and a wide variety of restaurants all accessible to guests of any hotel within the property.
The Beach is exceptionally amazing; Turquoise blue waters, clean and soft white sands, water sports, music vibes, food & beverage served, and even celebrating kids' birthdays by the beach.
The pools were just a cherry topping.
the room was huge !! it was one of the best beaches I've ever visited !! the Internet though was s struggle and they didn't fix it till the 3rd day of our stay in the hotel !! but overall it was an amazing experience. its not very close to other places in al sahel It a place you go and disconnect. also there are a nice mall walk in distance from the place and nice bars and restaurant.
Service is excellent ,all rooms are sea view , weather is good, sea and sand are Crystal ,
really We enjoyed a lot our stay & the food and drinks offered by hotel
also we liked the activities offered by hotel and entertainment team at the sea and swimming pool
I witness that all team working there are honest and dedicated to offer you better service and make you happy
I liked the beach lifeguards and the overall beach atmosphere .
I had a great stay at this hotel! The overall experience was very nice, with a few minor issues that were quickly and professionally resolved by the management. Mr. Amir in particular went above and beyond to make sure I had a comfortable stay, and I would definitely repeat my visit again.
Only the manager speaks English, it was then hard to communicate my needs with the other crew members of the hotel but I do speak a little and understand so I kind of made it ! And well, they were adorable. I think it is the most important. And they upgraded me for free in a beautiful bedroom with a magnificent front beach view.
Great place to stay. Really spacious apartment with nice layout. Beds and sofas are very comfortable, which isn’t always the case in Egypt. Amazing value for money. The elevator music is particularly fascinating. Adel is amazing and will help you with everything that you need. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.
The most amazing resort I have stayed in probably my life let alone Egypt. They give you the Maldive and cabana feel without the price tag. Everything exceeded our expectations. They cleaned our room twice daily and also offered so much more. There is no upgrade to have lunch and dinner included so just be prepared.
The room and the pool were beautifully designed. It felt like an isolated camp for chilling and relaxing with the comfort of a luxurious hotel. All the staff members were really friendly and welcoming. It was a new experience to try at el sahel and it was amazing.
The only good thing is the location, but even that when I reserved I wasn’t explicitly informed that there was several Jaz facilities/ hotels and that I am in Jaz Tamerina which doesn’t even overlook the beach
Liked every aspect about the hotel but have some comments , little bit pricey, you’ll be lucky if you found a close by parking spot if you decided to go by car , staff are very decent and friendly…
The staff was amazing especially the restaurant staff “ mr. Belal was such a helpful and amazing person”. The beach was good and the location of the hotel, overall it was an enjoyable experience
The hotel is clean because its new staff are friendly and helpful food is fair the property area is quiet at night 🌙 so you can sleep 😴 also close from center
The location is great. The restaurants at the beach (not part of the hotel) were great. One of the staff at the pool called Mahmoud was really helpful.
