One of the most popular touristic destinations in Brazil, Foz do Iguaçu is located on the Brazilian side of the UNESCO World Heritage listed Iguaçu Falls. Lying on the triple frontier between Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay, it also offers the Parque das Aves (Birds Park), the Itaipú Dam, and access to cheap shopping in the Paraguayan tax-free city of Ciudad del Este.
The word Iguaçu derives from the native Guaraní language, meaning “big water”. The spectacular falls are part of the natural frontier between Argentina and Brazil, and comprise 275 individual falls spread over 3 km in both countries, with a maximum height of 80 metres. Its water flow can be three times that of the Niagara.
Starting as a small village, Foz grew thanks to the flow of tourists, the construction of the bridges linking to Paraguay and Argentina, and the works on the Itaipú Dam and Hydroelectric Plant. Some of the best hotels in Foz do Iguaçu are located along the road linking to the national park. Nonetheless, most Foz do Iguaçu hotels are located in and around the central area.

we liked the falls much more from the Argentina side,...
we liked the falls much more from the Argentina side, because you can reach them much closer. Less than half a day is enough to spend there. We did the Catamarran tour and the food was really really good. Just go with Uber and buy your own ticket at the entry for the falls (both sides). A guide was offered for U$ 50,- at the gate informing us we could get lost (Argentina side). No way we could get lost with all the signs over there. La Boca de Diablo was closed since the bridge was flooded last year October, but should re-open soon. Uber is a great and cheap way to get around and we used a taxi to cross the border and they help with immigration papers. Also visited Paraguay with the bus for only U$ 3,- per person and came back with a collectivo for U$ 6,- who dropped us off right at our Hotel ( hassle-free). We never use the bus or public transport but it was an experience to us and Paraguay, while very busy, was worth a visit due to the many many shops and some expensive malls selling all wellknown brands

The Iguaçu Falls are phenomenal, needing two days, the first for the panoramic view on the Brazilian side, the second for a close-up experience on the Argentinian side. The city felt safe, and we walked some 6 or 7 blocks to eat at a good Italian restaurant.

We underestimated the time needed in Foz do Iguaçu.
We underestimated the time needed in Foz do Iguaçu. We extended our stay by 1 night from 2 nights to 3 (moving to wonderful Hotel Sanma because With Foz do Iguaçu had no room available), but should probably have added 2 nights instead of only 1.
Count 0.5 days for Itaipu, 1 day for Iguaçu-falls Brazilian side, 1 day for Iguazu falls Argentinian side, 0.5 days for the wonderful, very instructive Parque das Aves, and 0.5 days for a quick hike through the 3 towns Foz (Bra) Ciudad del Este (Par) and Puerto Iguazu (Arg).
Make sure you travel with autorized means of transportation from one country to the other.

Forget Victoria and Niagara, this is the only one you need to see! But make sure you see both sides as they are different. The Brazilian side is beautiful, the Argentinian side is awesomely dramatic. One day is sufficient if you start at opening time then transfer by taxi to Argentina and stay in a hotel there at the end.

Iguazu Falls - definitely worth visiting, but check tickets before you go as you might end up in a very long queue. Hotels offer to buy (not too big $$ difference). Birds park worth visiting as well as popping in to Argentina.
The Staff were all very friendly - very cheerful greetings on first day. They also helped us organise taxi from Foz do Iguacu to Puerto Iguazu on our last day, translated conversation with taxi driver for us.
Rooms were clean. Hotel corridors were very clean.
Breakfast was good (really good scrambled eggs).
Location was fine - short walk to bus terminal for the bus to the falls (line 120 which costs R$ per person - need to buy a ticket before you get on the bus).
Nice outer courtyard with tables for eating takeaway food.
Air con was good.
I had no problems during my stay. The reception staff spoke English and were very helpful to answer question or call a taxi if I needed one. Wi-Fi worked throughout the hotel; shower water pressure and hot water were good, room was clean, air conditioning worked well, daily housekeeping, and the breakfast had a good selection (I loved the soluble coffee). I really enjoyed my stay in Foz do Iguaçu, it felt very safe, I had no problem getting around by myself. Definitely recommend.
Location is great, and the hotel provides all the information for the tours, which comes very handy (particularly if you don't have a car). It's also walking distance to a couple of tourist attractions, such as the Parque das Aves e Parque Nacional do Iguaçu.
The premises of the hotel are very large, with a cafe, restaurant, souvenir shop, pools and so on. Breakfast had many options and the food was tasty. Dinning was also pleasant there and at a good price.
Cris and Vinícius are great people. They gave us many tips about Foz do Iguaçu and were very friendly. The place is great, very new and with everything you need. In Foz do Iguaçu is not possible to be close to everything, so this place is very close to Argentina and the Cataratas falls. But access to the other areas is very easy.
Proximity to the waterfalls and to the airport was added value for us!
All staff was kind and friendly!
Hotel offered all we needed/wanted!
( travel agent, car rental, little shop, nice pool and recreation area)
F&B was always fresh and of excellent quality and quantity!
Rooms were nice and clean incl. bathroom.
Nice breakfast, friendly staff and nice bars. Enjoyed the games room and great location for the Iguaçu falls and Itaipu dam. Food was great and reasonably priced too. Quirky hotel all ready for Easter which was funny and a great area in the lobby for good insta pics.
The hotel was amazing and has a beautiful Portuguese colonial architecture style. it's inside the Iguaçu Falls national Park, with rooms that can have a view of the falls from your window. The food is good, location to visit the Iguacu falls is the best.
This is more than a hostel, I would say it is more like a mini hotel. Super clean, nice facilities, close to the Iguacu Falls and the airport. Hostel provides transportation which is very convenient and reliable. Friendly staff and owners.
A beautiful hotel with truly exceptional staff. The attention to detail in both the decoration and facilities is mind blowing. Then you have the location, which is completely unique. If you're thinking about staying here, don't hesitate.
This is an excellent hotel with a very good service from the bellman to reception, to restaurant, to the tourist help office. The room we had was huge and offered a fantastic view over the city. Sunrise and sunsets were spectacular.
It is very clear what they are trying to do as an "experience place" and I appreciate the effort. The pool area is wide and the overall structure of the hotel is not in a great shape but is decent.
Hostel wanderlust is comfortable and located in a good location in Foz do Iguacu. The staff was kind and helpful. The hostel has a good kitchen and a place to hang out. The price was reasonable.
The hotel was very comfortable and clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I loved that it had air conditioning. The pool/hot tub area was very nice also. Breakfast was delicious.
Very good Hotel, with good facilities.
Very good location in the city centre, close to a lot of restaurants.
The guy at the reception was very helpful.
