We didn't stay in the town which looked to be very busy but stayed at a resort which was located in a secluded valley outside the town. We did stay a few days in McLeodganj but it was too crowded and full of traffic pollution.

Dharamsala is a sprawling, working town in a very beautiful part of India. Unfortunately, the town does not match its surroundings and has little to offer the essential traveller. There were NO pavements, and the roads were mostly too narrow to allow the vehicles, animals and humans to navigate in comfort. The waterfall can be seen from the hotel balcony in fact. The rooms are nice and clean, comfy beds. The manager - Viraj - was super nice and super accommodating. Felt like visiting family :) The food prepared at their kitchen was great and you can order it all there - breakfast, lunch, dinner. They also offer guided tours within the area and a campfire on the rooftop. I can’t wait to be back 🙏🏻.
