Scratch beneath the small-town surface of Helsinki and you will find a cosmopolitan metropolis buzzing with a lively attitude and plenty of excitement. Helsinki is a very compact city with most attractions within walking distance. It’s also a very clean city with great transport network. Buildings are elegant and it’s very pleasant just walking around the city.
There is a wealth of restaurants to choose from and all our dining experiences were very good.
All in all an interesting place to visit and I would return there. We were only there for a short city break but we felt we could have spent longer as there was a variety of things to do.

Beautiful city and centre of it is quite compact. Trams have very good logistic network and you can get everywhere quite fast. The main railway station is also in the centre so you can get easily from city to airport.
Cuisine is good quality and there are lot's of different level of hotels so everyone can find the best for their need or budget.
There a good amount of museums plus olympic stadium, where you can climb to the tower have a great city view.
If you love animals, there's a zoo on an island and you can go there by boat which is quite nice experience. There will be bridge to that island soon, so you can go there without worrying seasickness :D

What a great city for walking and exploring the many sites, ferries to small islands with well-signed historic walkways as well as easy access to Estonia for a day trip or an over-nighter. Loads of entertainment as well. We were lucky to be there during the Espoo Jazz Festival, which was great!

I had a wonderful time during my stay in Helsinki.
I had a wonderful time during my stay in Helsinki. One of the highlights was the incredible central library—an inspiring and beautifully designed space that's perfect for reading, relaxing, or just soaking in the atmosphere. I often found myself taking breaks at the Fazer café, a great spot for coffee, people-watching, and diving into a good book.
What stood out to me most was the city's design and attention to detail. Everything feels thoughtfully crafted, from the architecture to the public spaces. Helsinki is exceptionally clean, safe, and cozy—a city that feels welcoming and easy to navigate.
The Old Market Hall is a must and also experience the Finnish cuisine at Savotta restaurant.
I could easily see myself living there.

I really liked the art nouveau architecture, the visit to the UNESCO recognized old fort on the island, the parks, the calm and pleasant vibe of the city. I did not like how expensive it was, for example the museum entrance is 20 euros or more, seemed a bit exaggerated for what can be seen there. Food was nice, I tried salmon soup, the market stalls next to ferry to island have other typical Finnish foods like reindeer and small deep fried fish, and the old market nearby has a bit more upscale sea food options. The Karelian pasties and cinnamon buns were tasty snacks. The salty salmiak licorice is very popular locally, but for me a bit too much, however I liked an ice-cream with salmiak, the taste is less overwhelming that way. The public transportation is good, trip to airport was 4.40 and trip to island 3.20 one way. Least favorite despite recommendations - the church in the rock entrance 8 euro, with nothing much to see there unless you really love modern architecture.

We were at the children's museum, which was amazing. We walked around the city around the hotel.
We walked near the port. We took the ferry to Tallinn, which was also an experience. We had a short time, so we didn't get to do much
There is also a yacht that takes you around Helsinki. It operates on certain days so it is worth checking which days it operates

This is a very basic but comfortable new hotel close ro Helsinki city center in Kallio where you can find many nice small cafes and restaurants. It is only a few metro or tram stations from the central railwaystation. The rooms are quite spacey and it was really quiet. There was also a small table for working and big lobby when you can work or hang around with friends.
Very good location in the city center of Helsinki, and it's convenient that there is an indoor connection from the hotel to the Kamppi shopping center, which also has a train station. Excellent breakfast. A wide selection and options.
An excellent hotel in the heart of Helsinki. Very closed to the train station (access to the Airport) and all the publics transports around the city center.
We had plenty of shops around and were very closed to the harbour as well.
Great location, delicious breakfast and very nice staff.
Close to city center and main tourist attractions. Great communication with public transport. Quiet and lovely area surrounding hotel.
