A vibrant city with calmer beaches and busy markets.
A vibrant city with calmer beaches and busy markets. The people are incredibly friendly. I would go again as I didn't have time to fully explore.
On the plateau, explore the historic memory island of Gorée, go to the HLM market, the textiles market in Sandaga, the food market of Kermel. If you have time, go to the beach in Ngor and swim to Ngor island. Eat some local grilled fish and fresh veges.
Just drink bottled water :)

Senegal has very friendly people with lots of places to see and visit. It's easy to move around either by hailing Taxis or using the Yango ride app.
I enjoyed my visits to the Marché Soumbédioune. Here, you can buy authentic African craft from the Artisanal Village. Nearby is the Soumbédioune sea food market where you can buy a variety of fresh and grilled sea food to delight your palate. I enjoyed a meal of grilled fish and fries here.
The Mosque of Divinity and African Renaissance Monument are also 2 nice places I saw.
Before leaving for Ghana, I stopped by the Sea Plaza shopping mall to buy gifts for my friends and family back at home.

Good for seasoned travelers who like to get with the people.
Good for seasoned travelers who like to get with the people. Senegal is a fast-growing region with plenty of young people. Dirt roads are the main surface in Dakar but once out of town, you will find modern highways.

Hi
My is name is Al. I was born in Guinea but grew up in America. I was in Senegal to visit families.
Good:
The place was wonderful. Clean. The pool was clean and everything else.
The bad
The big refrigerator was not working but the provided small one new. Some of the toilets has issue draining water. But with the host Babacar everything was possible. The guy was excellent, nice and very disponible. Always available when needed something. If it wasn’t him, I wouldn’t have stay there during my stay. Because of the address

I felt safe and there were many things to see. The people I encountered were beyond friendly and helpful. I took a taxi a few times and the drivers were fair. I walked around the city during the day and at night and felt comfortable. The beach was very nice and clean.

Traveling by bus from Gambia to Senegal was not a good...
Traveling by bus from Gambia to Senegal was not a good experience. The actual Driving time should have been not more than 6hrs but we took almost 11hrs due to check points....The officers were very aggressive, rude and very very unfriendly. Maybe flying might be better. I will never go into Senegal via bus from Gambia. Ironically the bus from Gambia was a Gambia government owned commercial buses.
I had a sweet pink room with two single beds, Immaculately clean, electrical outlets right by the bed etc. Even a small table for me to work. The breakfast was great, I had double expressos and omelet every morning and very happy. I enjoyed the location, very central, although Dakar itself was a bit intense for me! The staff lived up to their reputation of being wonderfully helpful with directions and taxis and even changing some money for me on the night of my arrival which was hugely appreciated.
The breakfast was very good, there were crepes one day and chocolatines each day. There was bissap and guava juice, and an impressively large cat lounging around. The hotel is a convenient walk away from some nearby grocery stores, and the man who works at the front desk helped us with getting taxis, a new room when the first had mosquitoes, and a ride to the airport (which was 25000 XOF, around $41). We were able to leave our luggage there after checking out, and the water and AC always worked.
I have stayed in Dakar before and seen La Madrague from the outside. It is located adjacent to a beach opposite the island of Ngor. It is a lovely view and, for me, well situated. It is far enough from the city centre to be relatively peaceful but close enough to other facilities, restaurants, clubs etc for there to be variety. The hotel pool was meticulously clean, the food available from the restaurant was very good and the other residents were quiet, polite and well behaved.
The location at the beach is great, the boats to Ngor island depart the whole day at the beach in front of the hotel. If you want to see Dakar but want to avoid the busy city center, this is the perfect place. Rooms were very clean and recently renovated, brand-new airconditioning and daily housekeeping. Staff was friendly. We had a room upstairs (not next to the pool and dive shop) and we didn't experience any noise disturbances.
It’s my second time at the hotel in a month. As I said previously , the staff is very friendly , polite, helpful and professional especially the receptionist crew. TERANGA is the best word to describe all of the Senegalese staff of this hotel. I
I enjoy the standing of the hotel and the rooftop is a plus , I hope the hotel will make a better use of it ( DJ, cocktail bar ) same for the swimming pool area.
Everything was great, Aïssata, the manager was alwasy available to answer my questions. The studio and the 1 bed-room appartment I stayed in are well spacious and very clean. The neighborhood offers an authentic view of the Senegalese lifestyle exactly what I was looking for. Breakfast was quite good and they can also provide lunch and dinner.
Really great value for money!
Lovely hotel with great staff. Its a lil oasis off a busy road and nothing was too much. Restaurant staff were fun and dj was amazing. Reception staff were very accommodating help us source products to buy and allowing us to use a room after check out to change ahead of our night flight. Would recommend and stay again if ever in Dakar
I really enjoyed this hotel. The location was very nice, the staff was amazing!! all pleasant and sweet- they were the best! the room was as described and looked amazing. the balcony was very large and the room was spacious. the location was great. very convenient to go to ngor beach and other close areas. the cafe was also nice
I booked this hotel for my husband as he had to stay in Dakar a couple nights. He was very happy with everything. A hotel staff even went out his way to show my husband where to go for his meeting which he was very grateful for. So thank you casa mara for a pleasant stay and making my husband comfortable
The view is amazing and it's a very quite area for where you can walk easily and safely to the city center. They have deals with taxi drivers that you can grab anytime to move around Dakar. There's a very goos spa too with good service. Jean Michel the owner makes you feel like at home...
This place was much more than what i asked for! Super clean, comfortable and peaceful. The staff were super helpful in getting me some insider travelers info to Senegal and The Gambia. I absolutely will be booking this place again!
There's no perfect location in Dakar, close to the Airport bus station from where you can move in all directions, it's in a local neighborhood but feels safe, the host is always available if there's anything..
Clean rooms, gracious hospitality, and good food in a beautifully designed setting. What more could you ask for? By far this is my new favorite hotel in Dakar — a peaceful retreat in the city.
The Staff were so friendly, the Union Amical Corse Club is a friendly place to stay in Dakar for short and long term periods. Very close to the City Center and the service is really good.
Safe and quite area, considering there is a mosque just around the corner. Well Senegal is a Muslim country.
Breakfast simple but at least included in the price.
Staff friendly.
Friendly staff ready to help. Hotel is conveniently situated for the cemtre of Dakar and rhe central courtyard provides a comfortable eating and drinking area.
