This is a grand old house that is best described as well lived in. Needs a bit of updating. The pool needs some attention. Not at all inviting. I don’t understand why they don’t just get an expert in to give it a thorough clean without doing it themselves.
The staff are wonderful.

Stellenbosch with its town, restaurants and surrounding wineries are an absolute must while visiting South Africa. If you want a superb steak, go to The Fat Butcher. If you want a superb fish and chips to go Genki. If you want stunning views and great coffee visit Hidden Valley Winery. If you want stunning views and great wine, coffee and food visit Ernie Els Winery.
It was difficult to choose a hotel in the area for long weekend. We booked Sugabird based on high ranking and promise to have enough space for our family. And it was right choice. We liked every moment being there. We stayed in room 8 at first. It was much bigger than what you usually get for this money in Cape Town. After it we moved to the cottage 2. It was perfect for self catering.
Host was really kind and helped a lot to navigate through the area.
I do recommend.
the Alluvia is one of the most stunning hotels I’ve ever been too. When we arrived and saw the views we were blown away, rooms were decorated really lovely - loved everything about it.
would recommend the picnic - it’s one of the main things I wanted to do in Stellenbosch and we were going to go to a different winery but we couldn’t get it to work and I’m so glad we didn’t because it was much more romantic here.
Food, Accomodation, drinks, service were all perfect over all time we were there. Beautiful rooms! The hotel with its' restaurant can be fully recommended without any setbacks. A perfect hotel to relax in the heart of Stellenbosch, and every interesting location can be reached by foot. Very good hospitality. The managers are very efficient to run a perfect service on unprecedented high level. Highly recommended!
The breakfast was adequate. The location was fine, away from the town but close enough to shops and central Stellenbosch.
Grateful to have been allowed to use the venue for a photoshoot at no extra charge.
The grounds are very well kept and are beautiful.
Lots to do, pool, clean and large, and mini golf, braai and kitchen facilities if you want to just relax on the property.
We have stayed at this property many times and its always a pleasure. So conveniently situated close to restaurants and shopping and the university. The apartments are always clean and have everything you need for a self catering break. The staff on the property are always very helpful. We love staying at Die Laan 2 whenever we are visiting Stellenbosch.
It is a beautiful hotel, inside and outside. Our room was spacious, with beamed ceilings and beautiful wooden floors. Comfortable beds and we slept well. Despite the central location, the street is quiet. Next door to the hotel Stellenbosch best restaurant De Eetkamer, that was a jackpot! Bonus - safe parking included and across the street.
Warm greeting on arrival, great location for either Stellenbosch or nearby wine farms (needed a place to stay after a wedding at Tokara) in a quiet part of town. Was nice to have dedicated parking available off-street (though not behind a gate so don't leave anything valuable in the car). Enjoyed the Full English breakfast.
Only 5km from Stellenbosch town it was really convenient to go out to dinner and explore town. The wine farm is beautiful, peaceful and seeing game (Zebra, Impala, wildebeest) was a bonus. Got a free wine tasting voucher and wine was great and tasting room so beautifully decorated.
The rooms were lovely with the required amneties. The hotel is quirky and each space is a feast for the eyes. Incredible heated indoor pool, amazing lounge with fireplace which is perfect for a glass of red wine and long conversations. Staff is welcoming and excellent.
Stunning Boutique Hotel ib the heart of Stellenbosch - I do have to add that Temba who manages the property is excellent from check-in to the delicious breakfast he cooked managing the hotel on his own and being there for each guest is incredible.
The staff was very friendly. The rooms were comfortable and the service was fantastic. Breakfast was plentiful, with both cold and hot options for Americans and Europeans. Location across the street from Stellenbosch University was convenient.
The property was gorgeous- modern, clean, great design however what made our stay one to remember were the staff. Impeccable service, one we have not seen across any 5 star hotel weve been to
fab self catering chalet with enough rooms/beds for 6. amazing serenity and outlook on the wine farm with benefit of on site restaurant and wine tasting. wished we had more than 1 night.
