This onsen was nothing short of magical. The rooms were very traditional and incredibly charming. The food was exquisite and plentiful. We were able to completely immerse ourselves into Japanese tradition from the setting, the robes we got to wear, the sandals, and the private onsen available to be reserved. It was incredibly beautiful and we couldn't recommend it more.

So serene and beautiful here. We were so moved and inspired to be invited into the rhythm of temple life at Habanobo. The vegetarian food was was flavourful and delicate and prepared with love and care. We will remember our walk around Kuon-ji and the upper temple for the rest of our lives. Thank you for your kindness and gracious hospitality. We hope to return to this sacred place.

Everything. The hotel and rooms are old but that’s part of the charm. If you are looking for something unique you should stay here. Incredible view of Mt Fuji, amazing breakfast and dinner, within walking distance of forest. Will stay again.

My trip was mostly there to see the onsen and how it held to its reputation - which it did and then some. The staff took much pains to ensure that the food, service, and all amenities were well explained.
