Let's start with a warm welcome for the checkin! We were given relevant useful information about our stay and the city. Our room was comfortable and neat, with anything you'd need for a short stay. My partner really appreciated the massive bath towels!! We had a good rest without hearing the cars on the street. The hotel is in proximity of the train station which was important to us as we didn't want to miss out on the amazing breakfast!

Surrounded by Lake Geneva and glorious Alpine peaks, tranquil Montreux has enchanted artistes through the ages. Lord Byron was so inspired by the style and setting of waterfront Château de Chillon that he wrote a poem about it. Nowadays it is one of Switzerland’s most popular attractions.
Freddie Mercury also fell in love with Montreux and a lakefront statue in Place du Marché commemorates this former resident in typical pose, with one arm raised to the heavens. Queen fans flock here for the annual Memorial Day, just one musical festival hosted by this town. The most famous is the 2-week Montreux Jazz Festival, held in the Music & Convention Centre.
On the opposite side of town is Audiorama (the Swiss National Audiovisual Museum), near a funicular railway which climbs the hill. Further up the slopes is the family-friendly Rochers-de-Naye ski area, while the Les Pléiades pistes overlook neighbouring Vevey. Down at the quayside wooden chalets house stalls of the annual Christmas market.
Summer activities include boat trips, hiking and the Montreux-Oberland-Bernois narrow gauge railway whose trains allow you to really savour the views…and a nice cup of coffee.
The train station also connects to Geneva, site of the nearest airport, and Booking.com offers luxury hotels, apartments with views and cheap B&Bs nearby.

Montreux was a peaceful place at Easter.
Montreux was a peaceful place at Easter. Not too many tourists and, although the weather wasn't great, there was plenty to see. I took accessible trains and buses to local towns and walked along the lakeside which is flat and very easy to navigate. There were plenty of places to eat and have coffee breaks. At night it felt very safe to walk to and from the lake to the hotel.

Location is stunning with the lake and mountains. Plenty to do locally. Climate is excellent. Hit 42 degrees C in our room one day in February, heavy snow in the mountains the next day. The tourist ticket and fantastic, seamless public transport makes it so easy to get around.

This town is adorable.
This town is adorable. It was a spontaneous visit while we were in Switzerland for another purpose. But the Old Town was amazing, as was the lake and Chateau Chillón. Our only regret is not making it to the Freddie Mercury statue before we left.

People with money create a unique atmosphere in the city: for example, until 2 o'clock in the morning you can't close your eyes - convertibles with a price of 100K are driving through the streets with music so loud that no soundproofing helps. I will not say that I would like to live there. But sometimes such a vibe can even be liked.

We were impressed with the lakeside esplanade which seemed popular with everyone, tourists and locals alike. We enjoyed the iconic statue of Freddie Mercury and really appreciated the Queen Experience within the casino, free at point of entry and really well assembled…lots of interest…we had the best part of two hours there! We ate crepes and had coffee at the Eden Palace hotel…a light bite after the enormous breakfast we’d been served at the Victoria Glion. We appreciated the gardens along the front, well kept and with a large diversity of ‘Mediterranean’ plants and trees. We might suggest that the authorities consider putting plaques on the trees with their Latin names…we were curious as to several and what they were, but had no guide to help us here. This could presumably be done at limited cost and be wonderfully ‘educational’ to the masses!

This is a wonderful privately owned and operated hotel. It makes a change from the sameness of the multiples. Waiters are in white jackets and bows with excellent customer service. The location itself is a little village in its own right up a steep hill overlooking Montreux and the lake. The view in the morning is the most magnificent view I have ever had while enjoying breakfast. Staff are friendly, especially Jasmine, on reception. This hotel represents old world values in the best possible sense.
This is a 3 star hotel with a 5 star location. We had a room with a balcony overlooking the lake, and couldn't have been happier. And the welcome we got from Davide was amazing - he gave us a detailed run down on what to do in Montreux and could not have been more helpful.
The staff was exceptional! We had super nice receptionist and the experience was quite pleasant. Breakfast was quite disappointing for a 5 star hotel and rooms definitely need some updating but otherwise excellent stay!
Incredible hotel. Everyone was so hospitable and welcoming. We came with our 2 year old son who was so spoilt (in the best way!). A great hotel for a luxurious stay in Montreux.
Good location, near the waterfront, near train station. Inexpensive room and I slept OK, a value compared to the overpriced hotels in Montreux, so i put up with it.
