FAQs about hotels in Cairo

Resting Place of Pharaohs

Born of an ancient civilization, Cairo is a vast metropolis centered around the Nile. Its sheer scale can feel overwhelming (especially when flying over Cairo Airport), so plan ahead. An obvious starting point are the Giza Pyramids. Although the pharaohs are long gone, the grandeur of their burial pyramids, the Sphinx and Solar Boat are testament to their ambition.

The city’s Egyptian Museum houses a dazzling display of ancient Egyptian artifacts, including finds from Tutankhamen's tomb in Luxor. Around the corner is Tahrir, a huge square and focal point of the 2011 Egyptian Revolution.

East is Islamic Cairo, home to the 9th-century Ibn Tulun Mosque, Al-Azhar Mosque (site of the world’s oldest university), and the Khan el-Khalili souk (remember to haggle). The Citadel, with its elegant Mohammed Ali Pasha Mosque, sits on a hill offering far-reaching city views.

If you need a break from cultural tours, take a Nile cruise by felucca, spot wildlife in Wadi Digla desert park or visit Egypt’s top theme parks: Dream Park and Magic Land, where you can tour Egyptian TV studios.

Before heading to your Cairo accommodations, sample the local cuisine – the falafel and fuul (bean paste) are delicious. Coffee is a staple and there are hundreds of shisha bars, while major Cairo hotels have bars serving alcohol.

    Very corrupt country.

Very corrupt country. They treat animals in a complete deplorable way & I wish I’d NEVER WENT. The mystique of Egypt was completely destroyed. The tours are scams to take as much money from you as possible. Do not do the perfume oils or papyrus tours. Got to the airport and they tried to say I didn’t have documents to take out of country but I could acquire for a price.. so I LEFT IT ALL BEHIND! They TELL you how much to tip. It’s horrible!! I sat and cried at the animals condition. I know working animals - I live in a farming community , was raised in a large farm and we have animals . Use ONLY UBER.. the rest are rip offs!! Defo do the dinner n light n sound show at the pyramids but give the rest a WIDE BIRTH.. Check out your accommodation and I suggest staying at a good hotel and I using Ubers everywhere! Do not do the quad bikes they are horrible condition …not maintained and it’s a horrible area of Giza . I wanted to spare the animals but the dead ones just left in the street all bloated in the sun made me gag n cry.. the condition of the others were soo not good.. only saw 2 with shod hooves and most the camels have severe dermatitis from Mites.. just use your common sense and add spare yourself the hassles.. the place I stayed took money from an intetbational women’s organisation fir a “women in power in Africa” conference , gov shut them down and tried to get the er m to pay extreme amounts of mi ey for paperwork. Sadly is a Muslim country and women need to know their place.. they remind you if you are alone travelers.. horrible

Egypt worth to visit. tons of places can visit. to me its worth to visit: great Egypt museum GEM, Khan AlKhalili but Abdeen palace "King farooq" not worth cause daily life place in seconf floor is for diplomatic and presidential groups only, first floor is only weapons start from medieval to modern history which not necessary to me. but you still have many many places to visit like Hurghada, Dahab and Sharm Elsheikh shores resorts.

"Egypt left a deep impression on us — a country of extremes.

"Egypt left a deep impression on us — a country of extremes. On one hand, breathtaking history, magnificent monuments, and warm-hearted people. On the other, the daily reality hit us hard: visible poverty, polluted air and streets, overpopulation, and the overwhelming chaos of Downtown Cairo. The intensity can feel suffocating at times, and a quiet sense of hopelessness lingers on some faces. Yet, just a short distance away, sleek gated communities appear — calm, comfortable, and fully equipped. Thankfully, the desert offered a moment of breath: just two hours from the city, we found ourselves in El Fayoum, a mesmerizing landscape of sand, silence, and space. Egypt confronts, amazes, and doesn’t leave you untouched."

This might be a city you’ll fall in love with after giving yourself some time to adjust. When I first arrived, my hotel was near the Pyramids, and the streets were indeed dusty, with horse and camel droppings everywhere. But later on, I stayed in Downtown and New Cairo. In comparison, the Giza area is only suitable for a 2 day stay — just enough for when you plan to visit the Pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum. Accommodation experiences in other areas are much better. New Cairo, in particular, has newer facilities, is quiet, and is conveniently close to various large shopping malls. The only downside is that it’s quite far from the tourist attractions.

Who can describe the great Cairo in a small paragraph!

Who can describe the great Cairo in a small paragraph! It is as truly said, the mother of the World. You want history? Top notch antiques and places. Want a river with nice views? Nile River, hotels, boat trips. Want modern life and high-end places? 6th of October and New Cairo! Want downtown Paris-like style? Cairo downtown!

It's a city prepared for the tourism.

It's a city prepared for the tourism. We liked the stay in Nut Pyramids so we could see the pyramids everyday. The egyptian food is in average spicy, so is for who likes eat. Uber works well.. but they really like to negotiate even if the price is already set in the app.. thats not that good. if you are tripping with your girlfriend, be aware that is not usual for them to see women uncovered in the head, so they are going to stare at her.. in cairo we saw the pyramids and the great museum.. they are astonishing..

Very good value for monry. Brand new hotel. Rooms like 5 stars design hotel. Beds very comfortable. View from the pool and restaurant is breathtaking. Food very good and tasty. Lots of fruits for breakfast. Smoothies amazing, burger as well. Staff is so helpful. I left my passport on the airport late at night, they comforted me and called the airport in the morning. Staff is the best from front office to housekeeping and waiters. Keep good job dear people.

Absolute gem in terms of monetary value and comfort. So far it’s the best hotel in Egypt we stayed in ( it’s been more than 2 weeks of travelling across the country and a lot of hotels ranging 3-5 stars). It’s new , very well designed and staff makes its wonderful because humans are humans and we always seek for great and friendly communications during the travel.
