Cavtat was recommended to us and we were delighted with our visit. It is on a beautiful bay with plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants. There are a number of walks around the headlands and the sunsets are lovely. Dubrovnik can be reached by boat ( water taxi ) or bus and is beautiful. However it can get very busy and it is nice to stay in a calmer place such as Cavtat. The transfer from the airport is quick as it is not far. There are planes flying over Cavtat from time to time but this didn’t bother us at all.

water taxi to dubrovnik is fun way to get to the city 20 euro return per person.
The cable car in dubrovnik was expensive and not really worth the trip. spend it on a day trip somewhere else as you will get to see the wonderful views.
Konavle wine tour was excellent with Mickael. book at his desk on cavtat harbour.
the walls in dubrovnik were wonderful but a bit pricey at 40 euros per person.

If , like us, you fancy visiting Dubrovnik but don't want to stay in amongst the crazy overcrowded streets may I suggest Catvat; To get to Dubrovnik there's an hourly ferry (20 euros, anytime return) or a bus for 4 Euros. Back to Catcvat; It's beatuiful, welcoming, super clean and not a "boom, boom, boom bar" to be seen...or more importantly heard. It's not for everyone but if you're looking for somewhere with charm, taste and small local restaurants you'll love it.

Lovely location for a nice break. Ideal location to get to old town via bus or water taxi. Cavtat is full of lovely restaurants and you won’t be stuck for places to have a drink or food while you watch the fantastic sunsets.

Lovely walks along the bay and plenty of options for eating and drinks.
Pleasantly busy but not crowded or noisy.
Good options for trips into Dubrovnik and lovely scenic valley inland of the airport which is near but you don't get the planes flying overhead.

Lovely family run hotel 10 mins walk from Cavtat old town. Spotlessly clean and very comfortable air conditioned rooms. Fabulous sea views and large balcony to enjoy the sunset.
Fresh bottled water was left in room every day and there was sunscreen products beside the pool. They were free to use which was a nice touch.
Gym facility was small but excellent equipment for a hotel gym.
Breakfast was lovely, freshly cooked and different choices each day.
Big, spacious room and big bathroom.
Great view of pool area/garden and sea.
Beach just across the road.
Pool and beach swimming both as good as we found anywhere in Croatia.
Huge cafeteria area for breakfast/other meals.
Lots of restaurant options in Cavtat at all price levels.
Very clean and comfortable. We stayed two nights in Cavtat. Short walk to the beach and restaurants in town. Just below the airplanes, but it didn’t disturb us much. Small supermarket open to 22:00 is close (maybe 500m). Good communication with the owner.
location of the hotel is wonderful. On small peninsula with view on both sides, in big park. It is easy to get to the center of the Cavtat and from there to Dubrovnik. I will recommend Cavtat because is out of the crowded Dubrovnik, but still very close.
The hotel is close to many restaurants and beaches in Cavtat. The staff was also very helpful with my requests. The room itselfnalso had a nice little design and many commodities.
