Albufeira is a quiet peaceful place, we all felt comfortable walking the streets and visiting the local pubs and restaurants. The taxi service (Uber) very quick and efficient and we had to use a lot because the walk to the town and attractions are all very hilly and the pavements are not the best.

Faro is a nice place. The weather was perfect. But as someone who likes to see morden things, I personally think Faro didn’t do it for me. It had lots of old buildings. I know it’s history. But….. not just for me.

Lagos is very attractive town with a beautiful marina and beaches around, especially charming and very picturesque Camilo Beach, which is located maybe 200 metres from stunning Ponta da Piedade rocks. I would highly recommend to visit Lagos, when you travel to Algarve.

    I loved staying in Portimao.

I loved staying in Portimao. It offers the possibility (via water taxi, tickets available at front desk!) to visit Ferragudo. This small fisherman town is very beautiful and charming. Portimao has it all: beach, scenery, hiking, stores, restaurants, pasteleria, cafés and bars. People are kind, polite, and let you cross the streets everywhere. Try Faina restaurant (best cod cakes!) Typical Portugese fare: try Squash Restaurant. For something unique and very “beachy”, try NoSoloAgua. The Bao buns are heaven! Portimao feels safe for walking around. Nice clean city. And don’t forget to book a Discovers boat tour to the caves!!! Mind blowing!

A quiet town with an array of amazing restaurants. Very safe place, with very friendly and pleasant people. We ate at the following restaurants, and they were amazing: Restaurante Sal no Ponto (in the old town square Come Na Gaveta (close to the castle) Little India for the most amazing Indian food (looks nothing on the outside, but food and service was fantastic)

Aljezur is a great location to visit if you like nature, surfing, good food, a slower pace of life. I would recommend staying in Aljezur, getting a car to drive around to different beaches and villages where you can find good restaurants. In the evening, in Aljezur, always book ahead a table.

More traffic than I expected approaching the fort area. The weather definitely has an impact on the experience, if it is wet and windy it is difficult to enjoy the beaches and coastal walks and the town does not have much else to offer.

Alvor is a stunning, traditional town on the Algarve, and...

Alvor is a stunning, traditional town on the Algarve, and still feels slightly less touristy than some of the larger towns such as Albufeira. We have visited 4 times now, and still find new places to eat and visit, but also love that many of the restaurants have stayed the same and still serve excellent fresh fish, meat etc at the same quality and all very reasonably priced. The local supermarket in Alvor is not overpriced either, and there is also a Lidl and and Aldi now within 10 mins drive. The beaches, caves, and cliffs around Alvor and particularly at the Prainha Clube resort are stunning and you can walk for miles along the boardwalk. We highly recommend the Casa da Mare and the Mediterraneamente restaurants as 2 favourites, but there are so many others to choose from! As a family of 3 who enjoy eating out, good beaches, beautiful ocean views and walking/spending time playing cards together, Alvor is the perfect choice!
