Naples is a disasters. The boulevard where the hotel is is one big building site. We had a decent meal. Breakfast was ok. Rooms much smaller then the pictures show.

FAQs about hotels in Naples

Vibrancy, Vespas, Vesuvius

Undulating beside the Bay of Naples, this UNESCO World Heritage city is a maze of narrow streets and cable cars. Although it has an incredible array of churches and monuments, it’s the sheer energy, pulsating life, and buzz of Vespas that really make it exciting.

At first you could mistake this for chaos, but given time you’ll see there’s method to the madness. The stunning, curved portico of the Royal Palace. The perfectly thin pizzas which originated here. The red pepper trinkets to ward off the evil eye adorning practically every old town doorway. All are crafted to perfection.

While all this goes on at street level, below is Underground Naples – a series of tunnels you can visit and even a Graeco-Roman theater which you stop at before emerging into someone’s house!

Head up to the Posillipo area for stunning views of the city and Vesuvius in the distance. The volcano itself can be visited and looking down from it towards Pompeii and Herculaneum gives context to the thousands of artifacts now on display in the city’s National Archaeological Museum.

As for accommodations, Booking.com has a wealth of hotels near Naples Airport, old town B&Bs, city center apartments and more to help you make the most of your stay.

Interesting city but manic traffic !

Interesting city but manic traffic ! Visitors need to be aware that vehicles especially scooters make crossing roads extremely hazardous. Trains very crowded . Need to be very aware of thieves . My mobile phone was snatched from around my neck by two youths on a scooter . For security I had it on a lanyard around my neck - fortunately the clasp on the lanyard broke otherwise I would have been dragged into the road ! We had amazing times visiting Capri , Pompeii and especially Herculaneum . We would recommend taking a guided tour in Pompeii as the site is so large . Our guide Alfonso Maria was amazing - informative & engaging . Herculaneum an easier site to view and the whole area and town had a very peaceful atmosphere.

We have been to Naples three times and still do not like it.

We have been to Naples three times and still do not like it. We like the tourist places only. This time we were robbed and it really harmed our trip because we could not rent a car. I would advise people to stay outside Naples and make trips to the sites and be safer than we were. We will not repeat these mistakes.

    It’s such a vibrant , exciting & lively place .

It’s such a vibrant , exciting & lively place . I have not been anywhere like it before. The Spanish Quarter is unpolished and lovely for it - whilst the restaurants are clean and food delicious it has the look of being with the locals . The traffic is fast and erratic- I would not drive there but that’s me and you do not need to , buses , trains, metro allow you to get around with ease. The food was fabulous even for me a vegetarian. Clothes shops enticing , brand shopping if that’s your thing . Culture and churches abound - what doesn’t it have ?

Naples is a historical treasure with many historical sites, museums and buildings to explore, I felt very safe walking the streets day and night and the metro was amazing. During my stay I went to a Napoli football game, the whole experience was amazing including travel to and from the stadium on the Metro which is modern and safe.

Busy, slightly mad city with lots to see and do.

Busy, slightly mad city with lots to see and do. Food can be a bit hit and miss with some lacklustre service in the tourist hotspots. But, lots of choice - from those on a budget to those with money to spend. Archaeological Museum a particular highlight, as was the tour of Teatro San Carlo.

    Napoli is very chaotic.

Napoli is very chaotic. It seems like an organized chaos but can be overwhelming. I think 2-3 days is more than enough time to see the historic sites and museums. If you are using Naples as a base to take day trips to Ischia and Capri then I would add one day extra for each of those islands.

It's a charming and airy apartment with an absolutely HUGE terrace. Perfect to have breakfast or coffee, or to simply lounge in the sun. Host Laura is extremely helpful and friendly The location is super with lots of nice restaurants nearby. We spent three nights and cherished every minute of our stay, not the least because Naples is a unique city, very different from the rest of Italy. It is clear that Napolitans take pride in their city, and go out of the way to treat visitors with extreme friendliness.

The host's mother came to let us in and was very nice. She made sure to explain how everything worked and even left us a little welcoming gift - something we have not experienced anywhere else in Italy. For sure, the neighboorhood is VERY noisy, full of life until very late - but it's worth it if you want to enjoy what Naples seems to really be about. We really thought for a young couple this was perfect. The bed was also quite comfortable.

Great location, close to the train station and airport. Excellent pizza nearby. We really appreciated the easy check-in process and our host went above and beyond! He was able to arrange a taxi for us very early in the morning, so we could make our flight out of Naples. We also left some items behind and he posted them to our final hotel in Italy. We were very grateful!
