If you’re looking for a convenient location and homey atmosphere to stay, this will be a perfect place for you. The host has been very helpful and attentive before our arrival. He also provided us with great tips and local food & activities information, which saved our time to do research on our own. The room was very spacious and the kitchen was well-organized to keep everything we were looking for. Because of the warm hospitality from the host, it made our Douro Valley trip even make re memorable and especial.
Casa de Casal de Loivos offers intimate accommodations in a 17th-century manor house. It features an outdoor pool and a sun terrace, both providing stunning Douro Valley views.

Owner communicated well and let us in 30 min early-easy lockbox outside to get keys. Street parking -had to wait but did get a spot. Clean and spacious. Apt is on main road in Pinhao so walking distance to restaurants, boats on the river and shops

Pinhao is a charming small town in the Douro Valley.
Pinhao is a charming small town in the Douro Valley. There are several wineries within walking distance and quite a few restaurants. A couple of nice hiking trails start right in town. Prices at the restaurants in town are higher than other places in Portugal, but still reasonable. A lot of river cruise ships stop there each day, but the town never seemed overcrowded. Not a lot of tourist-focused shops.

Pinhao is an attractive little town on the Douro valley train line. It’s busy during the day when visitors from river cruise boats and the train stop off for a few hours. If you are staying overnight, evenings are quiet and centred round the small number of cafe bars and restaurants in the town centre.

The river setting was stunning, and we did a whole-day tour, which was excellent.
The town itself is very shabby, some buildings crumbling. Quite shocking when it is hailed as the prettiest town in the valley. I was told many of the empty shops are owned by people who want to charge over the odds to rent them out, and would rather leave them empty than rent at anything less.

Apart from the vineyards and river cruises there is little at Pinhao, however it's worth the train or boat journey. A one night stay was ideal for us and enough. We ate at the Writers Place which was great (but they only take cash).

Pinhão is at the heart of the Douro region and is surrounded by the most iconic Douro wineries, it's a mandatory visit if you're visiting Douro for its wines. Perfect place to stay for a few days while you explore the wineries that surround it.

Dois Lagares was a comfortable and contemporary accommodation on the edge of town. It was an easy 5 minute walk to the centre of Pinhao. The building was modern and our balcony overlooked a tributary of the Douro. It had good parking and great breakfasts. The rooms were comfortable and the bathrooms well equipped with walk in showers. Best of all was meeting one of the owners, Bruno, who took us on a tour of his vineyard and gave us a guided wine tasting. We learnt so much more from exploring a smaller family run vineyard
This was the most exceptional hotel I’ve ever stayed in, having traveled to more than 20 countries. Ate at both restaurants, which were AMAZING (both meals were the best we had in our 8-day stay traveling in Portugal), the room was impeccable, with an astounding view, the property was absolutely incredible and the staff were warm and inviting. I can’t rate this hotel highly enough.
Very nice hotel with great views over the Douro river. The views are especially great from the swimming pool. The room was decent size with a little balcony. Everything was clean, the staff was nice and the parking in the garage is also very convenient.
Very kind owners with great advise on restaurants, hikes and other activities in the region. Furthermore the hostel is clean, the beds comfortable and the location is in walking distance from everything in Pinhão. Can 100% recommend!
