Chaweng has something for everyone. we were 2 50+ adults with our 28 year old son and girlfriend. They enjoyed the nightlife on the strip with some friends and we enjoyed some lovely lunches and and beach days in a nice resort whilst they recovered from the nights excesses. You can arrange excursions to other islands easily. I would caution against staying up the big hills as it puts the taxi drivers off.Guest review bybeverleyUnited Kingdom - Review score

There are a lot of options in Lamai, we were able to walk into the town for the Night Market (although the taxi fares to go the short distance home were very high!) We also did a fabulous cooking class near Lamai.Guest review byCathyAustralia - Review score

I prefer to always stay on Bophut beach as I love the quietness and also at night the walking street is closed to cars so you can walk at your own leisure without having to worry about cars and bikes. The walking street is full of great restaurants to eat at with the most amazing food, even the food market is worth a visit with its entertainment and street food. Some of the restaurants we ate at were Bacaba, The Shack, Patuy restaurant, Nahm, 2 fishes, all amazing. We even hired a car and driver one day who drove us around the island.Guest review byJennyAustralia - Review score
Mae Nam doesn’t have the best beach, and is a busy area.
Mae Nam doesn’t have the best beach, and is a busy area. We have been to several areas of Thailand, and we found Koh Samui in general to be very busy and not that well maintained considering it is such a popular tourist island. There is no doubt that Fisherman’s Village is a very popular town, but it is very touristy and lacks the relaxed Thai experience that we are looking for.Guest review byJuliaUnited Kingdom - Review score

The beach is beautiful and not over crowded. We spent most of our time at Pi Samui for delicious food and drinks at the southern end. Loved watching the sea truck driving guest to nearby island resort.Guest review byvanessaAustralia - Review score

Very close to the airport, 10 min by car, perfect for the first few days on the island or the last few prior to departure. Next time i will stay the first 5 days here to get off the jetlag, and the last 2 day before heading out. the ferry to koh phangan is, depending on the hotel, in walking distance.Guest review bypeterunterkoflerAustria - Review score
I wouldn't go back.
I wouldn't go back. I was so disappointed by Koh Samui, I thought it was a nice place to go but aside from beautiful beaches and the views from the mountains, its really rough and run down. Chaweng itself is like Magaluf. The strip is awful. But if you like that then you'd probably like it but not being a drinker or a partier I really hated it. We did however eat at some really great restaurants all over Koh SamuiGuest review byCharlotteUnited Kingdom - Review score
This is a great tourist destination.
This is a great tourist destination. Glad we went during the low-season as it made for small, tolerable crowds. Plenty of activities and sights to do and see - we only brushed the surface with our short time there. Go for at least one week. Two would be better. The surrounding Gulf of Thailand offered lake-like calm, turquoise waters. Views everywhere are stunning. We Weill have to return again in the future. Highly recommend, especially the low-season.Guest review byLorentzUnited States - Review score

First trip to Thailand, we wanted a beach experience, but away from the huge crowds at Phuket that we'd heard about. We learned about the Full Moon Festivals held monthly on this island, and others nearby. We also knew the show "White Lotus" was partly filmed in Koh Samui, so we wanted to give it a try. We booked 4 nights at a private Villa with a private pool a few minutes walk from Lamai Beach, and we learned 4 nights was not enough. We can't wait to go back!!Guest review bySteven Douglas SmithUnited States - Review score
Loved our room! It was very spacious, clean & comfortable.
Loved our room! It was very spacious, clean & comfortable. The bed and pillows met our expectations. The pool was huge! Great for children or grown ups. A very ambient, quiet resort set on the beach front. The beach chairs are very comfortable and the best place to chill with a book or take in the amazing views. The staff are super friendly and helpful. The location is very peaceful and we ordered a taxi or grab to go to dinner in the evening. We had drinks at the Hotel pub one evening. Overall a great stay & value for the rates. The breakfast was sufficient …eggs and fresh fruit/toast/pastries. Handy if you have a motor bike to get around the Island as grab is expensive. .Guest review byAnonymous
