I never really heard of this city (I thought it was in Germany. :/) but I had seen it listed on some "top biking cities" lists. My AI travel agent recommended it as a great place for biking (using my Brompton foldup), and that it would be a great addition to my Paris visit. I took a train from Paris (where I was also biking) in under 2 hours. Train Station was on edge of older area (but most of the area is old, and scenic.) What a beautiful city! I thoroughly enjoyed riding around the old area (.75 x.5 mile), and also outside into other areas of the city, and actually into Germany(3 miles?). The bike lanes were outstanding! (Actually better than Paris) AI was right! I spent 4 nights there which was probably about right. If just walking, you could hang out for a week/many days just exploring all the small streets, shops, river walks etc.. Generally less crowded, less expensive (room was much bigger and half the price of my Paris room), and smaller than Paris. Public transportation seemed abundant also, with futuristic looking trams everywhere. The beauty of the city's architecture and the rivers, canals, and bridges was truly deserving of an OMG!!!

Parc de l'Orangerie was a highlight - many times reviews only focus on Petit France. The Parc is peaceful and I sat there for hours looking at the ducks and swans. Petit France is beautiful but overrated. Rather go to Colmar. The difference is the canal vs the rivers. The Cathédrale is beautiful from the outside, but the inside is very average. The Astronomical Clock was a let down. There was a big build up, people were excited. But when the guy said that's it you could see people looking confused. The museum about the Cathédrale is very insightful and I guess unless you want to climb the 333 stairs you learn and see more.

My sister and I spent three wonderful days exploring Strasbourg last week. We stayed at Hotel Victoria, just a 5-minute easy walk from the train station. The old town of Strasbourg with its deep history and numerous canals was truly charming. Things we enjoyed were eating at various outdoor cafes, taking an audio tour on one of the boats, visiting St. Thomas Church and listening to marvelous organ music, and wandering through the quaint cobblestone streets with their many shops.

Stunning scenery with history in spades yet stayed in a most comfortable hotel. I went in early June so there were not too many crowds. A mix of canals, medieval houses and Alsace tradition. Quite beautiful Travelling by myself I did not feel awkward anywhere. Charming waiters and retail staff, as long as you are polite and say "bonjour",

Strasbourg is a beautiful city with a marvellous cathedral and many sightseeing places. It also has excellent art and history museums. To do it justice you need at least 3 days if not more. Strasbourg also has a good train network, so is very suitable for exploring Alsace to the south as far as Basel in Switzerland as well as parts of Lorraine to the north. Most places are within an hour's journey, so are suitable for a day trip.

The hotel was 2/3 minutes walk from the main shopping area of Strasbourg and very close to Petite France also. You step out of the hotel right into the bustle of the city. Perfect location. The room doesn't lend itself to relaxation/lounging which was fine (and expected) as we knew we'd be out discovering Strasbourg for our 3 day stay. Perfect for our touristy purposes :) Check in and check out was so easy and both receptionists were lovely.

Excellent choice for a two day stay in Strasbourg, five minute walk to the cathedral, ten to Little France. Hotel staff were great, the room was immaculate and beautifully decorated. Tea, coffee, water were provided. The public parking is opposite the side entrance, not the main one. Parking Austerliz. You get a discount for it.

The room was decent and reasonably quiet especially given that the hotel is right in the centre and Strasbourg was rammed due to Christmas market. The staff were helpful and polite. Short walk from Christmas markets and train station. It was a good temperature given how cold weather was.
