Ciutat Vella
In downtown
Valencia’s Old Town is the city’s beating heart. It’s a tangle of mediaeval streets dotted with orange trees and grand monuments like the Silk Exchange. Start on a high by scaling the Cathedral’s “Miguelete” Tower for priceless panoramas. Then dive, map-less, into the Carmen neighbourhood and fraternise with locals in Plaza del Tossal’s bars.

Extramurs
0.4 miles from downtown
This district takes its name from its position outside the old city walls. It’s a border-town that straddles old and new Valencia. Climb the iconic Quart Towers for a view across the rooftops, then stroll on tree-lined streets towards the leafy Botanical Gardens. Cap the day off with a traditional Galician octopus dinner at Milonga Tapas y Copas.

Poblats Maritims
2.4 miles from downtown
This beachside district does a roaring trade in paella, Valencia’s star dish. Just remember that locals only ever have it for lunch rather than dinner. Malvarrosa Beach is the place for a seaside paella, with Panorama restaurant at the top of the list. After dark, party people head to Destino56 for G & T, then to Akuarela Playa for a boogie.

Quatre Carreres
1.2 miles from downtown
The highlights of this residential district lie in the dried-out Turia River, which now holds landscaped gardens and sports facilities. Gulliver Park is a Swift-inspired playground in the shape of a prone giant, where kids play Lilliputian games. Follow the river round to the City of Arts & Sciences, Valencia’s futuristic complex of culture.
Places to stay from $17 a night
Resting along the banks of River Turia, right at the centre of Spain's Mediterranean coastline, Valencia is dotted with balmy beaches and tree-lined promenades ideal for leisurely bike rides. Its manicured gardens, intricate architecture and quiet churches give the city a characterful identity.
Valencia's skyline juxtaposes avant-garde designs with the city's old-world charm. You'll find several historical periods coming together here – from the UNESCO-listed Gothic structure of Lonja de la Seda to the futuristic cultural complex of the City of Arts and Sciences. Don't miss out on a walk down the winding streets of El Carmen for some glimpses of the city's Arabic and Roman roots.
Azure waters of the Mediterranean wash the golden shores of the Valencia Coast. You can set aside some time on your Valencia trip to enjoy an afternoon siesta at the Malvarrosa Beach or head out to the Albufera Natural Park for stunning sunset views from beaches flanked with rugged vegetation.
This port city is the birthplace of 'paella' – and is therefore ideal for a restaurant-hopping spree to get your fill of this saffron-infused seafood delicacy. The Valencian cuisine holds a soft spot for rice and vegetables, making 'arròs al forn' and 'gazpacho' top favourites among locals and tourists alike. You can pair almost all your meals with 'Agua de Valencia' – a local cocktail made from cava and orange juice.

Valencia is a wonderful city that beautifully blends history...

Valencia is a wonderful city that beautifully blends history and innovation. You’ll find centuries-old architecture alongside cutting-edge design — a contrast that makes the city truly unique. If you enjoy walking, you’re in for a treat. Exploring Valencia on foot is one of the best ways to take in its charm while heading to major sights. There are also plenty of places with free parking, like near the City of Arts and Sciences, which is very convenient if you're driving. When planning your trip, keep in mind that a visit to the Bioparc or the City of Arts and Sciences can easily take half a day or more — even a full day. Be sure to check their official websites for tickets; they often have special offers. Overall, I’ve absolutely fallen in love with this city and I know I’ll be coming back again and again.
Beautiful city, many things to do, good food, not overpriced.

Beautiful city, many things to do, good food, not overpriced. Clean , safe, friendly, great atmosphere, customer service genuinely good. You can rent a bike and ride around the city, but if you want you can wander around the historic centre. The park of Turia is to die for. A paradise. I totally recommend València, even as a first choice when visiting Spain.

The old town and the parks were very nice. You can rent bicycles and travel throughout the parks, great network. Very busy city, make sure to get your bearings as a lot of the streets are very similar and hve poor signage.

Valencia has a great atmosphere. There is plenty to see in the old city and it’s all close together so one can stroll through the old streets between sites. Don’t miss the fabulous central market .. buy a local wine or juice and take a look at the wonderful selection of products on offer. Enjoy La Lonja, the cathedral with the Holy Grail , the basilica and so much more. One can walk along the old river now a park to the city of sciences .. it’s a must see with the amazing science museum and aquarium. Plenty of public transport options. There are so many dining options available for every budget that offer some amazing value and some delightful places to stop and take a drink. Try and enjoy some local specialties - paella, Horchata (go to the original Santa Catalina) and agua de Valencia.

Valencia is an absolutely beautiful city! It’s incredibly clean, with stunning places to visit and well-maintained in every aspect. The people are cultured, civilized, and stand out in a positive way compared to other cities, even operating at a much higher level. Everyone is friendly and smiling, the city is green everywhere, with amazing parks and a well-kept plaza. The hospitality is top-notch, and it’s a very hygienic city, perfect for both walking around and dining.
