Le Suquet - Old Town
0.6 miles from downtown
A wealth of history is never too far away in Cannes. This area is the lifeblood of the city, filled with greengrocers and fishmongers, humble eateries and small marketplaces. The streets amble to the top of a hill, which has views over the bay and the Lérins Islands. It's also home to the Castre Museum and the Notre-Dame de l’Espérance Church.

Live the life of a movie star. Haute-couture boutiques like Yves Saint-Laurent, jewellers like Cartier and Chopard, plus 5-star restaurants and hotels, punctuate this 3-km strip. Compare your handprint with those of Charlie Chaplin on the "Star-Studded Floor outside the Palais des Festival’s staircase, then scale it’s famous staircase.

Cannes City-Centre
In downtown
Welcome to the centre of town. This area is primarily known for its glut of high-end retailers - do the likes of Gucci, Prada, and Ferragamo ring a bell? They're all on and around Boulevard de la Croisette. Antibes Street is a little less extreme, with recognisable high-street brands, furniture stores and plenty of chic cafés and restaurants.

Pointe Croisette
0.9 miles from downtown
Point Croisette is a very small district. It caps the Boulevard de la Croisette, famed for its 5-star restaurants and big-brand name designer boutiques. It's a popular place to admire the coastline, with views that face the Lérins Islands. The Pierre Canto was constructed in the mid-1960's, where endless yachts bob in the bay's waters.

Once a modest fishing village, Cannes has gone through the ultimate makeover and is now firmly established as one of the world's most glamorous resort towns. Its fine dining, beautiful beaches and subtropical Mediterranean climate make it a favourite playground for celebrities who can often be spotted around town, particularly in May when the world-famous Cannes Film Festival takes place.
Arguably one of the most iconic streets in France, La Croisette is the main promenade that runs along the Cannes seafront. Lined with swaying palm trees, it's where you'll find designer shops, casinos and high-end hotels with private beaches. A stroll through the old quarter of Le Suquet will take you to the popular cobbled lane of Rue St Antoine, where you can enjoy a refreshing apéritif before a meal at a neighbouring bistro. If you keep heading uphill, you'll eventually reach the gothic church of Notre-Dame d'Espérance, from where you can enjoy sweeping views over the town. Foodies should pay a visit to Marché Forville, a covered market in the medieval Le Suquet district. Inside, you'll be met with a sensory overload of delicious sights and smells, comprising seasonal vegetables, fresh fish, cheese, meat and takeaway paella.
The French Riviera is well known for its pristine coastline, and Cannes offers plenty of sandy beaches to relax on. Some are privately run by hotels, so they will charge a fee for non-guests, but others like Plage de la Bocca and Plage du Midi are free to enjoy.

We have stayed in Cannes many times because we have family living there. We are Irish and there is a lovely Irish community there with some good Irish Bars particularly Morrisons, The Quays and Ma Nolan's. There are ample restaurants both affordable and more upmarket if you want. Frensh Restaurant and the Duke offer excellent food and service at affordable prices. We love the sun, sea, cathedrals and outdoor eating.

Cannes is an amazing place to visit and spend several days. Even though there are many people, the place has a great vibe and a long seafront boardwalk (La Croissete). Highly recommended if you want to experience a different perspective of the Mediterranean.

My favourite place in the Cote d’Azur. It has that beautiful relaxing vibe with a great beach that extends for miles, great restaurants and the perfect place for a relaxing holiday. We came in late October, just before a lot of places close down for the winter, so its less crowded then in summer or around the film festival.

There are lots to see and do in Cannes, all the main attractions are walking distance. Le Suquet is a medieval old town, interesting buildings and recommend taking the tourist train to the top of this town to visit the Castre Museum and Cathedral and see the views of Cannes.

Cannes is exciting especially for business trips, the Promenade, the luxury shops let you submerge into the Riviera lifestyle. The Yachts, the Port, the beach bars- all give you a sense of luxury. Cannes is nice for a 2 -3 days trip, usually we travel there for work, so we love it. Overall it is a place of luxury and premium atmosphere, so do not expect to submerge into a tradional french culture of provence or local fishermen, but rather luxury , yachts, expensive shopping, beautiful hotels like the Ritz Carlton etc.
