A borough of New York City, Brooklyn was named after a village in the Netherlands, and is a populous area with over two million residents today. The cosmopolitan neighbourhood of Brooklyn is steeped in history and is dotted with flea markets, parks and museums.
Brooklyn Museum is one of the first choices of history lovers during their Brooklyn trip. Spend a lazy afternoon looking around this huge space dedicated to numerous artefacts and treasures from all across the world. Liven up your evening at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, a multi-arts centre, for live shows, including dance, stand-up comedy and plays, among others.
For a bit of fun and adventure, visit Luna Park in Coney Island. With 28 rides and the famous Cyclone Roller Coaster, this amusement park is a perfect place to let loose and enjoy. Stop at the oldest continually operating aquarium in the country, the New York Aquarium, to see sharks, whales, penguins and other marine life.
Spend your day at Brooklyn strolling through the iconic Brooklyn Bridge. You can rent a bicycle or skate while enjoying views of the busy city along the way. Head to Brooklyn Flea for a selection of vintage items, clothing and accessories. Brooklyn Botanic Garden is a top choice with nature lovers for a peaceful afternoon under the shade of trees. Try to time your visit with the Sakura Matsuri Festival in spring to see the garden awash with cherry blossoms.

I ran the NYRoadRunners Brooklyn Half, 5/2025, from Prospect Park to Coney Island Boardwalk. Born and raised in NYC, I had never stepped foot in Brooklyn. WOW!! By all means, go through Prospect Park. If you get the chance, PLEASE eat lunch at Bogota Latin Bistro, which was recommended to me by a Brooklynite. YEAH. Brooklyn is GORGEOUS. Didn't see Coney Island, as our race organizer actually fenced us off the boardwalk attractions, the rides, and the food.

Brooklyn has been for several years the "happening" place in New York City. The neighborhoods are vibrant and beautiful. Best views of New York are from the Brooklyn promenade. Wonderful ethnic foods.

Brooklyn’s a gem—vibrant, diverse, and packed with character. The easy subway access keeps you connected, while the borough’s unique neighborhoods, tasty eats, and laid-back vibe make it a standout spot to visit or stay. Great value, too!

I like that the shopping, restaurants and Barclays is all within walking distance’s. The subways are also convenient if you need to go to Manhattan or the other borough’s. Downtown Brooklyn has drastically change but the vibe is still nice.

Park Slope is a "human sized" residential neighborhood with many young families. The neighborhood is safe to walk in even after dark. There are many restaurants with a diverse set of ethnicities and price levels. The subway connections are convenient. The Brooklyn Art Museum and Library are excellent, as is Prospect Park.
