Modern Stockholm is uniquely made up of 30% waterways and another 30% of parks and green spaces. It’s spread across 14 islands and is both one of the world’s cleanest and most charming capitals.
Stockholm’s famously huge number of museums includes the Naturhistoriska riksmuseet, the Moderna Museet and the Spritmuseum. City Hall hosts the famous Nobel Prize banquet and the Vasamuseet hosts the 300 year old Vasa warship.
The city’s past can be felt in Gamla Stan – Stockholm’s stunning Old Town with medieval layout, cobblestone streets and the Baroque-style Royal Palace. Designer Swedish clothes and interior decorations abound in the many unique stores throughout the city.
For a day away, ferries reveal the stunning Stockholm archipelago, a group of thousands of islands and rocks where you can enjoy hiking, outdoor swimming and fishing.
Whether you fly to Arlanda, Bromma, Skavsta or Västerås Airports, the city centre can be reached by either train or airport coach. Booking.com offers a wide choice of accommodations for your Stockholm holiday, from modern hotels, to unique botels and affordable hostels.
Public transportation is abundant. Even on the water!
Public transportation is abundant. Even on the water! It's a beautiful city. Lots of museums, parks and cafés. Restaurants are not cheap, go for the lunch menu usually around 12-14. Dogs are welcome practically everywhere! Don't shop in the Old Town. Expensive and everything is available at stores in the city. I'd avoid November and February. Dark, cold, and "not much fun".

Visiting Stockholm was an unexpected surprise.
Visiting Stockholm was an unexpected surprise. The mixture of both the old and new architecture was interesting. I loved walking around “Old Town Stockholm” getting lost in the cobblestone streets and finding some real gems like Engelen Pub with their live music all day long. SKEPPSBRO BAGERT bakery, along the waterfront, was a true delight. A tantalizing bakery that serves 2 types of vegetarian soups daily for the cold wanderers. Stockholm’s museums are fantastic! I especially found the Vasa Museum. In August of 1628 the wooden warship Vasa was launched from a shipyard in Stockholm for its maiden voyage. Within 30 minutes it sank in the harbor due to bad design. After 333 years it was raised and salvaged. Crazy to see it in a museum! I would highly recommend a visit to this impressive city.

Loved Stockholm, so much to experience. Needed a longer stay than our 4 nights. Enjoyed the old town, and an archipelago was a highlight. Very easy to get around the city and explore the offerings. On a next trip we would explore more of the area.

We loved Stockholm, which proved to be both beautiful and highly walkable. We also won the weather lottery, so our days were mainly beautiful. We were also delighted by the quality of restaurant food, which ranged from great pizza to steak tartare.

Beautiful city, fairly walkable.
Beautiful city, fairly walkable. For a two night stay we crammed in as much as we could which included a trip out on the Ferry to Drottningholm Palace; the beautiful old town of Gamla Stan and the ABBA Museum plus walks along the river. Enjoyed fika daily; dining out limited due to having a fish/nut allergy - however being a cosmopolitan city there were many international options to choose from.
Need to be savvy with travel options and have apps setup in advance - ferry, tram - as they are all cashless.
This was a short staycation for us having travelled to Stockholm from Finland - family of three adults.

The Breakfast in the THON-Hotels is worth the money as everywhere in the THON-Hotels in Scandinavia.
I can recommend it. It's most of the time the decision maker to go for the THON-Hotel.
In addition, the location directly beside the Stockholm Central Stration is an advantage too.
The service by the team was very friendly, I enjoyed it (esp. as I forgot to ask for the tax-correct invoive).
My correct invoice was sent by e-mail without any complication - best thanks for this service.
With a view of Gamla Stan, this hotel was an excellent choice. It was close to all major attractions and provided an excellent night's sleep. The best part, however, was the staff, who were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. I would definitely recommend this hotel for your next stay in Stockholm.
The atmosphere, location, and all-around vibe of the hotel is the perfect rest stop to your stay in Stockholm. Perfectly situated, in my opinion, the best part of stockholm.
A 5 star choice breakfast!
Just walking into this place, you felt special!
I loved the location of the hotel it is strategically located near the shopping district with the best view of Stockholm. I really liked the cosiness of the rooms.
