The seahorse, hotel in Blyth

Offering a bar and quiet street view, The seahorse is situated in Blyth, 21 km from Northumbria University and 21 km from St James' Park.

Staff were lovely, room was nice & clean, very bright though, curtains at the window above the beds would be a good idea. I also thought bed & breakfast didn’t mean I made my own tea & toast, they said continental when we checked in & gave us a key for the restaurant where bread & cereal had been put out the night before, a touch deceiving.

We were visiting family in Blyth and there is lots to do in the area. We took a bus from Blyth to Whitley Bay - 10 min journey along the coast, lovely scenery. Whitley bay has a lovely high street set behind the main beach area.

A good base for exploring north Northumberland.

A good base for exploring north Northumberland. Lots of English Heritage sites and natural beauty, including wonderful unspoilt beaches, within easy distance. The town centre is rather depressing, but the port area is bustling with new industries associated with wind turbine and photovoltaic energy development. There is also Ridley Park, a great community asset with well thought out activities for all ages.

Having lived not far from Blyth many years ago, it's been awhile since I've been here. Pleased to see the regeneration going on close to the shore line and the many historic buildings around. I've never been on the beach here until this visit, but enjoyed a long walk on a beautiful, quiet, sandy beach with lots of interesting distractions such as several surfers making the most of the rollers coming in, to the old Tall Ship berthed on the jetty.

Lovely beach and free to park which is a rarity.

Lovely beach and free to park which is a rarity. Ridley Park was good fun when the water fountains were working. Designated cycle paths parallel to the beach. Would have liked to have visited the Blyth Battery but it's only open on a Saturday.
