A luxury, purpose-built resort along the Algarve region coastline offering a variety of accommodation ranging from 5-star hotels to villas and apartments, Vilamoura is the largest complex of its type in Europe. It is conveniently located, 16 km from Albufeira and 25 km from Faro Airport.

Although the area was developed from scratch by the Porto banker Cupertino de Miranda in 1974, its origins date back to Roman times. The Cerro da Vila Museum tells the story of the ancient fishing town, and displays the ruins of the Roman baths from the 1st century.

Wonderful restaurants! Delicious food and lovely ambiance in all places visited, especially in the area behind the Marina. Favourite restaurants included The Fish Shack, Don Alfonso, Retino, Nija, Sal & Fozo. Steak, lamb and fish dishes all delicious and of course Monkfish Cataplaner. Local beaches all well cared for. Loved the Marina, to sit outside and people and boat watch, peaceful and scenic

I have been going to Vilamoura for several years mainly due to the location only 25 minutes from Faro airport and close to the beach, bars and restaurants. Love Vilamoura so much to see and do. The Old Village was amazing. All facilities included even several pools. Some enclosed and we had one just up 5 steps from where we were staying. Plenty of choices for food and entertainment.MarieIreland - 8.0Scored 8.0

Beautiful place, fantastic food. Lots of trips you are able to book when you're there like parasailing, fishing, jet skiing, dolphin watching, visit the caves, there's a waterpark nearby, beaches are beautiful and clean. Outside pool is a nice spot to relax, too. Delicious breakfast, helpful staff, and - last but not least - large free parking lot outside the hotel is a great benefit, too. Just 10 minutes walk from the centre of Vilamoura and its amazing marina and promenade, same 10 min walk is enough to reach Quairteira beach promenade

The old village is a lovely mixture of houses and great bars with happy hour(3-6pm) wine 2euros! A nice walk to the Marina, beautiful surroundings of golf courses. Vilamoura is very lively even in February, a great resort.

We used Uber for taxis in and out of the marina- Around €7-8 each way. Got a taxi from hotel to mar shopping centre and outlets. But next time I would have used an Uber as taxi from hotel was a good bit more expensive.
