The idea that the government specially build these high-quality home offices seems today a bit surprising, but makes sense when you consider the Afsluitdijk in that 1930's period as a global showcase of advanced civil engineering. We liked everything about this property from the welcoming owner Ellen, to the beautiful and well appointed room, the charming living room and the fantastic breakfast served in a most charming dining room. we wish we had more days there to enjoy it and the North Sea coastline.

Set in the naval town of Den Helder, Forest Hotel is across the street from the train station. It features an comfortable accommodation with free Wi-Fi. We loved the location . The breakfast was lovely with lots of nice options! Big windows in our room gave us lots of light and good views. Very safe place to park our bikes for the night.
