Spacious, clean with a decent kitchen, with a large table & plenty of space for the entertainment we did. Great Internet. Bathroom is bright and spacious, with a great shower and bath. Location is perfect - we never had any problems with parking, the Levels coffee and restaurant is just opposite and all the shops are on the doorstep. Owners are friendly & very responsive to any problems.

Perfect location near the ferry, impressive history, perfectly equipped and lovely hosts. The decorations are amazing, not like any hotel room or rental accommodation I’ve ever visited.

Definitely recommended, more a spacious apartment than a guest room with all the facilities. A lovely bright kitchen/living room and a large bedroom. Also a shaded garden at the back which is great for a drink in the summer. Value is very good especially considering all the facilities and excellent breakfast.

The location is the best in Harlingen; right at the heart of the harbor and downtown, steps away from the ferry, shops, harbors, restaurants, TI, train & bus station. We loved that we could sit in the living room and watch the activity out the windows, especially the boat traffic through the canals and draw bridges. We saved a lot of money by buying groceries and wine and eating in this apartment because our view was better than any bar/restaurant in town! Janneke, our host was quick to reply with our questions. We found parking 3 minutes walk away for 2.20 Euros/day.

The Het Dakhuis is AMAZING. Central location, spectacular views, charming and modern decor, sparkling clean, good wifi, and a fully equipped kitchen (with good knives!!!!). The stairs are more like wide ladders, and they were borderline for my mom (69 years old), but it was totally possible for her to navigate them. Also, we knew about the stairs when we booked, and we thought they added to the charm (it felt like we were living inside a windmill, in a good way!). We just left all our luggage on the entry level and only brought up things we absolutely needed in the kitchen or bedroom levels. We cooked dinner of local fish and veggies from the market happening the afternoon we arrived, and Anita left champagne for us which was a perfect match and a lovely gesture. And, she helped me figure out the paid street parking situation. Also, the Netherlands seems to have more reliable access to tea without caffeine that we even do back home in the USA. We really appreciated the stash of rooibos options. The only other things: it was hot with the windows closed, and if there was AC we couldn't figure it out. But that was our problem, not the house. :) We left the windows open overnight and the breeze cooled things off. (Also, the water closet is sealed off from the rest of the kitchen/bathroom level. It was sauna in there, so we left that door open most of the time.)
