Best Western Plus Hotel Koeln City, hotel in Cologne

Best Western Plus Hotel Koeln City has a fitness centre, terrace, a restaurant and bar in Cologne. With free WiFi, this 4-star hotel offers room service and a 24-hour front desk.

The ex-Radisson-turned-Best Western. Overall pretty neat, however it’s unfortunate there is no fridge in the room in a 4-star hotel. They stored my food at the reception, but that’s not the most convenient. The location is good, in a walking distance everywhere. The staff is friendly and the room is very large. No complaints here.

FAQs about hotels in Cologne

From Antiquity to Modernity in Cosy Cologne

Founded by the Romans in 38 BC and idyllically located on the Rhine River, Cologne offers the perfect blend of historical and modern Germany. There’s no place more picturesque to drink a Kölsch beer and eat a schnitzel than on the banks of the River Rhine. Here you’ll find the Altstad, or Old Town, with the impressive Cologne Dom on the skyline.

Visitors to Cologne in February can dance the days away at the Carnival Parade. In December, no trip to Cologne’s magical Christmas markets is complete without a steaming mug of Glühwein.

The charm extends to other seasons as well, thanks to the medieval wonders of the Cologne Cathedral and the Twelve Romanesque churches. Learn about the city’s history at the Roman-Germanic Museum or take a postmodern approach at Museum Ludwig. Whether historic or culinary, a trip to the Chocolate Museum can complete any tour.

Booking.com offers 260 different accommodations, ranging from apartments to mid-budget hotels to guest houses. So whether you’re stepping out of a plane at the Cologne Bonn Airport or a shop on Hohe Strasse, you will be sure to have a cosy room for those cool European nights.

Based ideally next to the train station and opposite the cathedral. Only minutes away from the river and between the old town and new. Some noise in the evening. But expected given the location. Transportation options were great and in multi language settings. A good choice of restaurants for all budgets.

I visited Cologne many times and I love it!

I visited Cologne many times and I love it! This time we parked the car at the Köln Arcaden, a big shopping mall in Köln-Deutz on the other side of the Rhine. You can buy a 24 hour ticket there for just €4! But remember to buy this within one hour after driving in. And try to leave a bit earlier to be sure not to pay extra. This happened to me, I had to pay an extra €10, I consider this still cheap for 24 hours parking in a big city. U Bahn and S Bahn station is at walking distance from the mall and you are in the centre in a few stops. The mall itself is fine too by the way.

Cologne was the first place in Germany I had visited 30 years ago. I fell in love with the city then and I still feel the same about it now. I was here this time for a trade fair and it was a great trip with new connections made. It has everything you need. Excellent city.

A cool city that you should definitely visit.

A cool city that you should definitely visit. But be careful when booking hotels, do your research carefully. The same one and I ended up with what I believe are scammers. We traveled in April 2024, and found an inexpensive hotel Downtown Ehrenfeld on booking. 1 night in Cologne booked a room. check-in after 16.00 - approx. I received a message from the booking office that bed linen is not included in the price, but you can pay an additional 10 euros per set and get.... well, okay, on the road, we won’t change anything, we’ll take it extra.... We arrived at 17.00 and discovered there was no bedding. At the reception we said we need bedding, we are ready to pay extra, they suggested we call Mr. Otto. They gave me a phone number. Ok, let's hurry to see the city, then we'll call you when we get back. We returned at 22.00 - tomorrow we will continue on. We call Mr. Otto - and the answer is: a room without linen, it’s your problem that you don’t have bed linen with you, I can’t help you, but you’ll be indignant and call the police. - this is the result of the conversation... they spat, went to the room, put a jacket under their head, and without undressing went to bed early in the morning on the road. We just started to fall asleep, we hear in the next room they come in and, finding themselves in the same situation, try to resolve the issue with the bed linen and, having received the same thing in response, people did not want to put up with it, turned around, spat on the lost money and left. In the morning we left with an impression of the contrasting city of Cologne - I did not expect that in 2024, in Germany, you could run into such deception of customers. Conclusion - don’t relax, otherwise.....

The city has a lot of roman history and it is well known for its amazing cathedral and the nice view of the cathedral and the Hohenzollern bridge. It's not a big city so you can visit the most important places (excluding museums) in a day and you don't really need to be taking trains to move around. The city center and the surroundings are quite beautiful: Alter markt, Heumarkt, the river itself and the visits from the "Cologne triangle" building. Also a nice walk is: from the city center through Schildergasse street (shoping street) go to Neumarkt and then Rudolfplatz where you can visit the roman door. An interesting neighbourhood to visit is Ehrenfeld where you can take nice pictures related to modern art, graffiti, etc. If you plan to visit some museums, I would recommend "NS-Documentation Center" (for those interested in the WW2 history), the Cathedral's treasury rooms and the Ludwig Museum. There are also other interesting museums, like the chocolate's musems (rather overrated in my opinion), the mustard museum and the "Kölnisches Stadtmuseum" (the last one being a nice building with a "Ford fiesta" on the roof. If you have more time to spend on the city, visit the zoom, the flora gardens, some parks, etc. There is also a big therme named "Claudius Therme". With the train you can also visit some nices places not too far away: Bonn, Düsseldorf, Aachen or Königswinter are well worth a visit. Also, check out for events taking place in the Kölnmesse.

Our stay at Eden Hotel Früh am Dom was the perfect launching spot for beginning our Rhine cruise that started in Cologne. We easily were able to get to the hotel from the train station by walking (with our suitcases) around the Cologne Cathedral. The staff were friendly and accommodating, the room was both comfortable and large enough for us and our luggage, and breakfast was very good (especially for those of us from North America that are accustomed to rather meager breakfasts at our hotels).

The hotel is situated in a quiet area of Cologne. It is located adjacent to MacD, so a quick bite is always possible. The hotel in addition to breakfast has a facility to order Pizza till 11.00 at night. They also have a moderately stocked bar. There are two types of parking, if you are early or lucky enough, you can park for free which is limited in number. The paid parking space is large and can accommodate over 25 vehicles at a time. I managed to get a free parking spot on all three days.

Best hotel are the one who give us an upgrade room when available without needed to be asked, and this hotel is one of them, many thanks for the upgrade!! Location is also best because it's directly right at the side of Köllner Dom and inside the hotel is still silence so I can sleep very comfortable. The hotel is already in the center so only walking distance to most tourism place. Staff are also friendly, a very good 1 night stay spent at Cologne.

Perfect for the final day of a long Germany trip where we needed convenient access for a morning train and to the tourist sites. Rooms are a little small but clean and nicely furnished. Breakfast was on point with the basics all available. Friendly staff got us into one of our two rooms when we arrived by train 11am, so we were able to stow the luggage and begin enjoying the city. Bonus: many rooms have a view of the Dom.

We picked this hotel because it is conveniently located for train travel. We arrived from London on the Eurostar and stayed for one night, enroute to our final destination of Switzerland. The hotel is modern in decor, the beds are comfy, and the breakfast buffet was excellent. All in all, this is a lovely hotel. Nice little hotel in the city center of Cologne, right between the main train station and Neumarkt station. Very friendly staff!

The hotel was in a very good location close to anything you would want to see in Cologne.
