Overall, Maxx hotel is good, but support team of booking.com is very bad. It is difficult to reach them. Slow response, no mail.

We reserved the apartment (FeWo) and it was excellent. Very spacey - large living room, two bedrooms (upstairs), kitchen and as a bonus a nice rooftop veranda with a beautiful view of the city. All equipment fully functional. The breakfast was a buffet with a good selection of food and eggs prepared on order. The breakfast was not included in the cost of the room, it was 15 EUR/person.
The hotel has an excellent location, about 100 m from the city center, in a quiet street.

The hotel was immaculate and modern. Staff was very friendly and helpful . We loved the Bier Garten and the food was so delicious (Lecker). You also had an option of refreshments in a refrigerator all on the honour system.
Highly recommend this hotel!

great price, great quality, very professional staff

Our daughter lives in Jena with her young family. This unit is not as convenient to her as others we have used but was one of the biggest and had a full common kitchen to use. We have not seen too much of Jena except the old city and the Bergau Park Mall. Both are nice and different than in the States. Would like to see the Planetarium or go to the top of the Jen tower. We found the bedroom cold in December when we arrived and the common areas cold all the time. There is a large common-use dining table but it is so cold in the area you wouldn't want to sit out there. Nice quiet area but very limited, unreserved parking. We had to park about 5 blocks away and walk back. There is a very complete grocery store called Netto just across the street that had fresh baked croissants in the morning. That was great!

Not a well known travel destination, but with family here I was able to experience a German city without a large tourist influence. It was an enjoyable visit with plenty to do over a week’s stay. Transportation always available and easy. I found the people very friendly. There were many excellent bakeries and coffee shops.

Jena is a very nice town and lively because of all the students. Lots of various restaurants, cafes and pubs. People are friendly and helpful but it helps to speak German. Do not assume you will get around everywhere with only English.

Gorgeous small university city, intimate with walking distance to the mountains, center tower with city view offered. Very quiet getaway. Most locals are patient with a little to zero German speaking English native speaker. Dare I say is a nice place to honeymoon

An attractive small city with lots of lovely fin-de-siecle and modernist architecture - I could have wandered the streets for ages. A little down-at-heel but I feel that added to its charm. Situated on a slope, which makes for interesting wandering. Surrounding countryside also very pretty. We didn't have time to go to many bars or restaurants but the atmosphere (Fri. night) was nice and it felt safe.

Jena has got everything for most everyone, busy city centre, theatre, cinema, pubs and clubs and plenty of history, If that is not your thing (it's not mine) than the surrounding hills are outstanding for walking, hiking or mountain biking as well.
The staff at the reception were helpful most of the time, and they tried speaking English which is a bonus point in such a local hotel. But besides that no other employee spoke English, i had to communicate with signs with the cleaning people when toilet paper was out. The room was clean in general. Parking options are limited but possible, short parking time for drop off is very useful.
a) location is super in the city center which we can reach many shops and restaurant and attraction by foot.
b) the breakfast is consider good but a bit pricey compare to other hotel in term of value vs food variety.
c) the room setup is nice however the bed quality need to improve where you can feel the pocket string when you sit down on the bed.
The facilities are all exceptional. The hotel is an old house that is wonderfully renovated. Even though no breakfast is offered, there are plenty of cafés around town to go and enjoy something local. The dinner menu is superb and does not leave anything to be desired.
The place was clean and had free wifi. The staff was quite helpful during checkin and checkout, too. The hostel is also located rather close to the scientific facilities of Jena, such as the Fraunhofer IOF. The price was very affordable.
The apartment is in a quiet neighbourhood on the edge of Jena. From the apartment, you can hike into the surrounding countryside directly or catch a tram (five mins) walk into town. The host was very helpful and the apartment very clean.
Very friendly and efficient welcome. The location is excellent and the standard of the room in this traditional building is very good. The breakfast was also complete at a reasonable price. We will definitely come back when in Jena!
I didn't expect 29 floors in Jena, so it was really cool to sleep on the 27th floor. The Restaurant is super stylish and the food really really great. Staff is very friendly and the view a real experience.
The location was optimal. Also the view from the view is probably one of the best in Jena. The mattresses are super comfortable. Breakfast was ok. Staff were very friendly and ambience was really nice.
The breakfast was outstanding. We also ate dinner there one evening which was wonderful. The room was much larger than most European hotels we have stayed in. The value and location were excellent!
