Pirna is an ideal base if you want to explore Saxon Switzerland. The Old Town is compact but very lovely. It has very tranquil ambiance, which suits travelers seeking a peaceful getaway. For the people to love old architecture, Pirna is a gem as it is completely unspoiled with modern concrete monsters. There are many great restaurants and cafes within the Old Town, though most close quite early. From Pirna, it only takes within less than 1 hour to get to Bastei, Bad Schandau or other smaller towns.AnFinland

Hotel gives a Guest Card which costs 2 euro per day and with this card you can take any public transportation for free including the boat at the Stadt wehlen. Old city is just 10 minutes walk. By taking the bus you can go to Königstein and take S bahn to come back the hotel. From this hotel it is very easy to Malerwweg. I was sick during my stay and asked for a kettle. They lended me one. Breakfast was a good value. I recommend that too.

You can self cater if you want to, or you are close to bars and restaurants of altstadt Pirna if you prefer. Supermarket and bakery right across the road, and right behind that was the bridge across the Elbe that takes you directly to the railway station or into the pretty town centre with a 10-20 minute walk. Super location for day trips into Dresden - about a 30 minute rail trip - or going down the Elbe to explore the excellent walking tracks.

In fact, I have not had a better bed on my travels. I would happily have stayed much longer than the 5 days I was there as the city of Pirna has a lot to offer. It is only a 20 minute train ride to Dresden and only 20 minutes to Bad Schandau and the Saxon Switzerland national park. The owners were very attentive to our needs. Wifi worked well. I recommend this apartment highly

The building and rooms fully fit the hotel's name and look very romantic, with old-fashioned but well-preserved furniture, carpets and wall pictures. The breakfast was very delicious and diverse. Staff was very friendly and helpful, speaking good English. The Internet was good.

The walk into the old town was easy, maybe 10 or 15 minutes, and the town of Pirna seemed very safe, even at night walking to a restaurant for take-out. The train station had regular trains running into Dresden and down to other stations on the Elbe. Likewise, the bus service was regular and timely.

It made my trip in Saxon Switzerland a blast! Located in the heart of Pirna, it is just a short walk to the train station, supermarket and eateries. Loved the balcony, I had breakfast there everyday. It is not a fancy apartment, but still very comfortable. Cafe and Biergarten right outside.
