Beautiful town and friendly people.
Beautiful town and friendly people. We ate lunch three times (in four days!) at Fresher's Café and really enjoyed the food (obviously). They have their own delicious home-made quiches. I am sure this has to be the friendliest place to eat in the Lake District. Special mention to Michael, who was super helpful and humorous.
On the day we did not eat there, we went next door! To the Great North Pie Co and I had the best steak and ale pie I have ever had. It was served on mashed potato, with mushy peas and onion gravy.

Perfect town to stay at if seeking a base in Lake District.
Perfect town to stay at if seeking a base in Lake District. We didn’t have a car and honestly had no need for one as it was easy to reach by train and had plenty of local busses - including hikes that start at centre of town. Enough dining options and overall “village” feeling without it being too busy or too quiet / isolated. Traveled as a couple so cannot comment on appropriateness if a family
Well maintained B&B with lovely decorated rooms. Although the hotel is very dog friendly, the room did not smell doggy at all. We Stayed in the Loughrigg room with our small dog for 3 nights, and Jane the host was very welcoming to us all.
Location is perfect, very central and close to anything you may need.
Breakfast was also excellent, and served by a lovely lady called Lillian. We will definitely stay here again, with or without our dog if we visit Ambleside again.
The location was perfect, just a minutes walk into the centre of Ambleside, with parking directly outside the property. The views from the apartment were amazing. Check in was very easy picking the keys up on arrival from outside the apartment. The owner, Dave, was available at all times if needed and was very welcoming. The bottle of Prosecco on arrival was also a lovely added touch. Would definitely return in the near future.
Like everywhere in the Lake District, the Wateredge seems to be having issues with staff. However, the staff there were all really friendly and worked incredibly hard. The hotel and location were perfect. We plan to return to Wateredge in the near future. Thanks, for a lovely stay.
Also, we took our dog and it was very dog friendly.
Service was impeccable throughout the hotel.
Breakfast was really very good.
Spa, with pool, steam and sauna and hydro pool beyond expectations.
Loved the location and the fact that there is parking on site.
Lounge areas are tastefully furnished and decorated with ample space to read, have a drink and just relax.
Very well presented and tasteful facility. The owners are efficient and explain everything, from parking to breakfast, very fully. The breakfast is great. The owners are friendly and always ready to help. The rooms have everything you need. Great value and a very central position for Ambleside's attractions.
Intimate and cosy little lodge with en suite bathroom. It was such a lovely little getaway in Ambleside and very close to the little village full of shops, pubs and restaurants. We really enjoyed our stay and Rob was such a lovely and attentive person who made our stay perfect. Thank you.

The food was very good, small menu but everything we had was nice. The staff were all very friendly and good. the garden was lovely and was great for walking our little dog. The hotel made our dog very welcome.
Friendly and welcoming owners, nothing was too much trouble! Comfortable room and lovely breakfast each morning! Fantastic location right near Ambleside town but quiet enough at night to get a good sleep!
