Firstly - the road to the area has recently been sealed and is EXCELLENT. Many older reviews mention the horrid mountain gravel track that is no more (and it would have been bad especially in inclement weather). There are a huge number of hikes from a few hours long to a few days that can be done in the area and if you really want to explore and get the most out if it stay a few days at least, especially if the weather turns. I did see a little camp ground and there are several accomodation options.
For the photographers and bird watchers out there there is plenty to keep you occupied. And no review is complete without mentioning the puffins :-) They are a few (4 or 5?) km from town proper There is parking up top with a cafe (I did not go in but hubby did as he was cold and sick of puffins - he said it was average to say the least but did have wifi) a short set of stairs down to the little harbour then a short set up on the puffin cliff. If someone is a bit immobile then you can drive (but not park) then down to the second set of stairs.
The stairs are a bit narrow and have two wooden walkways up top. I have been to many different bird areas and puffin cliffs and this is simply the most accessible and easy to view, especially for small children/elderly as there is very little effort required in getting to the location and there are burrow within 50cm of the board walk in some cases, on all sides. There is a sheltered bird hide at the end of one walkway. Note there are also Elders breeding here and a vast array of sea birds flying past at al times with feed for their young.
Everyone seemed very respectful of others with moving aside to let people pass on the narrow stairs (as there are great vantage points from there)

Perfect example of a beautiful fishing village.
Perfect example of a beautiful fishing village. Warm, small town hospitality. Spectacular scenery! It was a tough drive on gravel roads over a mountain, but every turn offered another gorgeous vantage point of the most amazing panorama of mountain and coast. Not to be missed.

This is painterly country, elf country, troll country, a geologist's dream, quiet, genuine, and it is unparalleled hiking country. The most easily-accessible puffins are to be seen here. You will be just a metre or two away from them.

I missed visiting the puffins because the weather was rainy when we were there. Would love to stay another night to take some time to go around the town! However becauae the weather was cold and windy, we had snow!! The drive muo to this town was breathtaking, along and right beside snow capped mountains!

A lovely seaside town, beautiful sceneries, attractive seabirds including puffins. The only things that didn't help to make this trip more memorable is the bad weather encountered and the access roads over the mountains.

The breakfast was really wonderful. A large selection of fruits, meats, breads, jams, juice. Good blackout curtains and nice large shower and bathroom. The walls must be thick because we had no issues with noise. Had a good night's sleep here. The staff are friendly. It is very close to the puffin colony which we enjoyed greatly. It is a picturesque location - The hotel is right along the water so you have ocean in front and the mountains in the back.
There is also a nice restaurant just at the end of the gravel driveway to the hotel.
The concept of the place is interesting, guesthouse + hotel rooms + restaurant and a small spa. We booked it even if it is in a fairly remote village because we wanted to try something different from the usual tourist accommodation.
The restaurant had a good choice of food and was fairly priced (for Iceland). Nice locally brewed beers. The breakfast buffet was tasty and plentiful. The spa is a nice extra touch: it's pleasant to soak in hot water after a day in the cold.
The Blabjorg guesthouse was off ring road a bit but it is totally worth it. It really is a hidden gem. The staff are efficient and responds to emails and requests very quickly. We made reservations for the restaurant and spa(hot tub). Our dinner was great I had the fish and chips, yum! We had a studio apartment with perfect view of the water. The room was cery clean and the kitchen had everything we needed.Highly recommend.
A very good conversion from previous life as an fish processing plant / slaughterhouse. It is a very good, high end hostel with smaller rooms but with great views facing the bay. Bit expensive compared with hotels we stayed in but that's to do with the location of B Eystri and it being a small town in the far reaches. Worth it though. And breakfast and evening meal on site were good. We loved the homemade crisp bread!
The dinner in the hotel restaurant was divine - highly recommend the fish soup, lambwich and the gin cocktails. Breakfast was included and decent. The location was right on the water and close to the puffin hill (10 min drive). Staff was fine. Had access to kitchen and TV in a common space. The rooms with private bathrooms will be nice after the construction is done.
The owner met us with a big smile and the keys as we walked in. Considering it was the weekend of a music festival that took over the whole village, and it was very busy, that was a lovely touch. The hotel is at the end of the village, but the village is so small that everything is walkable. Breakfast was good, too. We would definitely go back.
Great location, easy to get in and out of town. The staff were very friendly. The hotel is well maintained - tidy and comfy rooms, and clean and organized shared areas (kitchen and bathrooms). In addition, the breakfast buffet offered plenty of choices and set us up for the day and more adventures in Iceland. :)
The hotel really has potential. It has a spa area, a great kitchen (not to pricey) and lovely stuff. Rooms are ok, perhaps a table and a chair would be nice. But you get a tremendous view from the bath and there is a nice self-catering area. Oh, and do NOT miss the puffins nearby and the old turf house.
The room we booked had some issues with water damage so we actually didn't stay in the hotel. They arranged for us a room in another hotel - Alfheimer nearby. Very warm staff. Very good breakfast in Blabjorg resort.
Property was clean quiet and comfortable- everything we look for in a hotel in a very isolated but beautiful area of Iceland. The owner was fantastic and so helpful with advice and directions. Meals were very good
Friendly, simple hotel in one of the cutest villages in Iceland.
Some highlights: super friendly employees (from reception to breakfast service or cleaning), free coffee and tea around the clock
