Room was clean, spacious. Balcony had a nice view. Free parking in the lot across the road.
General store is 2 buildings over. Grocery store (SPAR) is 4 buildings over.
The harbour and the shops are 10 minutes walk away (shortcut is to just cross the abandoned rail line on the other side of the parking lot -- the locals have worn an obvious path in the grass/scrub).
LH Porto Rafael Altura Resort is less than a 5-minute drive from local beaches in Palau.

Palau is the perfect place to stay if you want to explore the Costa Smeralda. Its not too large and has a very friendly athmosphere.
There is a beautiful beach really close to the apartment and there are so many great restaurants, bars, coffee shops and a lovely Gelato shop all near the marina.
There is a ferry that goes back and forth all day to Maddelena Island which is beautiful. You can either go on foot or take the car.
We travelled all along the coast and found numerous wonderful beaches and stunning marinas.
We would definitely stay there again

Nice area around the harbour.
Nice area around the harbour. A number of restaurants that are perfect for 3-4 days. Plenty of opportunities to go on a sailing trip to La madalane and the other lovely islands around Palau. You just have to try it. Sailing trips can be made in many price classes.

I definitely recommend going on a boat trip, beautiful beaches that you will only see when you travel by boat. I would recommend taking a ferry to the island of La Maddalena, renting a scooter or car and crossing this small but beautiful island.

Palau is the nearest seaside town from the ferry landing...
Palau is the nearest seaside town from the ferry landing between Corsica in France and Sardinia in Italy. Hotels need to be booked well in advance, end September is a good time to visit. The nearby Islands of Madalena, Caprera and the other islands are a bonus. Costa Smeralda is within easy driving distance from Palau. Mind the restaurants they can be pricey.
We had a great time at the Palau Hotel! The hotel staff was helpful and very hospitable.
The hotel is located uphill, but the main city attractions and beaches are within reach if you are willing to walk. Otherwise hotel provides transfer to reach the Port or Spiaggia de La Sciumara which is very comfortable.
If you are staying in Palau I suggest you dedicate some time to visit Archipelago la Maddalena.
Had a great stay at this lovely B&B! We arrived after having landed in Olbia and going on a tour on the coast of Sardinia. We were welcomed by a lovely host. Our room was clean and spacious. We stayed for two days and enjoyed some amazing breakfast everyday. The B&B is a great spot for exploring the island of La Maddalena. It is in walking distance to the harbour and all the restaurants in Palau.
Highly recommend the house! It was one of the best equipped houses I ever stayed, sun umbrellas, cold box for example were provided. The beds were very comfortable and its quiet. We had a car which was quite useful in general to explore the island. Lisa is very nice, welcoming and has great tips for the island, the communication with her was super easy, to sum it up she is a great host!
Altura was such a lovely stay. The staff was helpful, accommodating, and very kind. We were lucky enough to be given a free room upgrade with a sea view, which made our stay even better than expected. The location was absolutely beautiful, perched up on the hill, overlooking Palau and the water. The amenities were nice, the rooms were clean, and they had a great breakfast!
The location was great, even though it was up a steep hill, but the views of the port and the sea from the lobby were worth it.
The staff were friendly and accommodating, gave us tips see some Islands.
Rooms were cleaned daily.
Breakfast with a view on the port. Common area with the same view.
The bathroom was big.
Great location, 15 mins walk to the Palau port.
Amazing staff, Elena was very approachable and helpful, tried her best to accommodate every request.
Pizzeria, Market, coffee shop within the camping area.
Free parking.
Bungalow was renovated and clean, well equipped.
House well set up, excellent staff, comfy beds, nice sunbeds, external seating area, external shower to remove sand, individual bbq, nice beach bar, good privacy, dedicated parking for each house. Stunning views over La Maddeline on the short drive from Palau.
Great breakfast, awesome staff, good facilities. Very convenient car distance to Palau and boat trips to the Maddalena Island. Nice beach in the hotel area, where you can choose to stay in the deck or in the sand. Clear and calm water to swim as well.
The location is fantastic - just a stone throw away from everything but tucked away. My room was clean, comfortable and if you can get a room with a view I would recommend it. Seeing Palau from the balcony was fantastic especially at sunset.
location, proximity to the beaches (our favourite one was Palau Vecchio, La Sciumara is too windy)
very kind host
spacious kitchen with all the amenities (microwave included)
beach toys and a bottle of Cannonau included - loved it
Stunning location in the edge of the town, views all over the islands and town. Charming house with extensive outside seating areas. 15 minute walk to the centre of town, 8 min walk to the beach
The location is great - on the edge of Palau, close to the main routes to all towns around. The house itself is amazing with everything we needed, a yard and a wonderful view towards the sea.
the location is perfect!
