Beautiful nature and atmosphere. The trip to Lake Ashimoto was lovely and the scenery impressive. The highlight of our stay in Hakone was dipping in the local onsens, we loved the experience and the feeling of relaxation after a bath. We ate at different local restaurants, mostly found via map apps, which made great food at reasonable prices. We used the Hakone Pass to get around using trains, cable cars and the ropeway, all very convenient and easy to use. We could have used a couple extra days to visit some of the attractions in the area, that we did not have enough time to enjoy.

One of the highlights of our trip to Japan was visiting Hakone. We would wholeheartedly recommend staying in Gora and doing the loop up to the mountain and then on the sightseeing boat. The hakone free pass is excellent and a must for all visitors. There is an abundance of sites and tourist offerings about the area. We did the railways the open air museum the boat and ropeway and achieved all of this within about 24 hours. It is a beautiful destination and a must from the hustle and bustle of the city life

This meant all family members of both sexes could use the onsen at once (in swimsuits!) The dinners and breakfasts were exceptional, in quality, variety and quantity of food. There was a 600m downhill walk from the bus stop but the hotel provided transport each morning back to the bus stop. The hotel runs a shuttle bus from the nearby transpot hub on the banks of the lake, where buses to and from Odawara as well as the sightseeing cruise ships can be boarded. The hotel was also extremely clean and well presented. Our room was spacious and comfortable.
