The front desk staff are very kind and accommodating. The location is very central and a short walking distance to shops, restaurants and the beach. The hotel provides drinking water which is in the hallway to fill up your water bottle etc. The staff keep the hotel quite clean despite it being an old hotel. I appreciate that the towels are bleached so they smell very clean.

How can Booking call this a 4star hotel ? In what world is that ever true. They are lucky it could be a 2 or 3 at the best. You need to vet these rooms and staff! I tell an un biased photo truth based experience, nobody speaks English and i was never greeted or welcomed on a day to day basis. Before you book with booking.com try alternative recomendations. My review on internet, air conditioning, the ceiling fan worked like a fire trap. Getting a towel once a day was beyond their customer care.3 out to 6 days I had to retrieve on or wait and when i wanted 2 towels ,i was given hand towels. I have photos so look. Forget about flushing the toilet one time or having an mid day water pressure. The area around the hotel is very dirty.

Progresso beach is beautiful, with lots of restaurants to choose from and a beautiful beach to enjoy.
If you are craving Canadian/American food, the Barlovento restaurant is great for that. You can get Mexican or food from home, (if you are Canadian or American), like fish and chips or boneless chicken (nuggets), even poutine or chilli cheese fries! The boneless chicken is tasty and homemade, freshly battered chicken breast pieces, not a minced frozen chicken nugget. The fish is beer battered and tasty with tartar sauce. Lots of English speaking people hang out here, with English speaking waiters. It is a great place for food, and to meet people. A great breakfast spot too, with good prices, breakfast options included some fruit which a lot of other places charge for separately! Lots of options! Nice clean bathrooms too!
The Spiaggio restaurant was great for woodfired pizza's, they also have pasta's. Renee is a wonderful waiter there, and spoke English and was very friendly and helpful! It makes you want to go back just to see him, he is so nice to everyone!

I love coming to Progresso.
I love coming to Progresso. Definitely have gringo prices and local prices. Must bargain or at least be aware. Don't go shopping on the Malecon when the ships are in. They dock for a day and the locals cater to the dollar( I don't blame them by the way!) Please don't over pay, especially for accommodation! Prices then go up and it makes it harder for the expats that live here part of the year. Do a bit of homework before you come. More and more people are discovering this place. I hope it never becomes to commercialized like Cancun. I love that there are no resorts here. One of the only things I don't like, is the smell sometimes from the rotting seaweed on the beach and maybe from some other places? I also don't like the number of dogs on the streets that have to fend for themselves. Some of them look like they are starving. Can be distressing. We take the local busses and uber everywhere. Very reasonable. We like to support local restaurants and we do a lot of walking. I love Mexico and I love the people here. 💕 They really like the Canadians here in Progresso.

One of the worst beach towns I have ever stayed at.
One of the worst beach towns I have ever stayed at. The town was run down and dirty. Too windy, water choppy and turbid. The Malecon was terrible. Food in the restaurants was too expensive and poor quality.

Love Progreso – we come every year!
Love Progreso – we come every year! A small, peaceful city, even on busy weekends or when cruise ships are in town. We love the energy of the Malecon and enjoy exploring the different restaurants. Strolling the Malecon is a highlight!

Convient, pay to use beach for a good seat under umbrella,...
Convient, pay to use beach for a good seat under umbrella, but Pesos is cheap. If going for day or only beach just take an uber as there is NO Parking. If staying at a hotel, Uber too Progreso, plenty of restaurants and shopping but no parking for rental cars to come and go.
Beach is lovely. Cabanas and sun beds were great. Room was lovely - we got upgraded, although I think it was because no-one would pay the price of it and we had a 3 year old in tow, who was exceptionally happy to sleep on a sofa in his own room with a huge TV in it. Therefore they could sell out all the other rooms.
Bar/restaurant staff on the beach were fantastic. The restaurant was overpriced with smaller portions than other restaurants on the beach, the food was good still.
A nice little apartment to spend a few nights. One short block to the beach and a 25 minute walk to the Malecon.
The room was clean with nice linens. The ac and fan worked well. The other guests staying there were very respectful and helpful. There is a small green sitting area outdoors that has a pool to cool off after a hot day.
The pictures in the listing are accurate.
Love the area—a quiet beachside street with a peaceful vibe. The complex is well maintained, secure, and all the staff are friendly and helpful. The condo itself is extremely well equipped (much more so than most holiday rentals) and comfy—especially the bed. And above all else, the host was incredibly helpful, communicative, and accommodating.
The building was beautiful, food and service excellent. close to the beach and a fun bar-restaurant across the street on the beach. walking distance to the Malecon with all of the shops and fun. Netflix was my sons favorite part of the hotel after no TV at the others. Safe parking and pretty pool.
Small, friendly , old hotel. At first I was given a very small, bare room with window next to reception. I asked to change to a quieter room & was given a much nicer , more comfortable room in the back. I later learned this room cost an extra 50 pesos per night but more than worth it.
To be honest I was impressed with this hotel we did not have any interaction with the staff cuz we just went inn and out came back about midnight and no problems whatsoever they have everything what we want and the price it was very affordable most like it we will comeback
Excellent location, just one block to the beach. Very nice and quiet place. It's great that there is also a kitchen, which gives you the option to prepare some food.
Also, the owner was very nice, helpful and attentive. Would definitely recommend the place!
The location was phenomenal. Tons of food nearby, closer to the beach than expected (right across the street), and in a quiet part of town.
Owners are nice and helpful.
The place and pool were clean, and larger than expected.
Great home for a family vacation. Pool, private access to beach and rooms with amazing sea views.
Found it had everything we needed, not exactly central, but taxis are readily available.
Brand new hotel, beautiful restaurant, lovely pool deck overlooking the beach. Very friendly and helpful staff. I would definatley stay again if I was in the area.
Apartment was nicely set up and very clean. Location was close to Centro Progreso. It is a very quiet location and not crowded. Check-in was easy as well
