Easy to find, friendly greeting upon arrival by Nuno. Check in was easy, clean room, ac worked great, water pressure in shower great, nice breakfast included. Nuno also was extremely helpful in explaining directions and parking for local sites….. 516 Arouca Suspension Bridge was especially helpful. Nuno was outstanding, as was all the staff we encountered.

Arouca is an interesting town with great scenery on the doorstep. It is a good base from which to explore the geopark and to do the 516 suspension bridge experience. Local restaurants and bars are very good value and there is a genuine feel about the place that this is the real Portugal.

Great pleasant town to use as a base for surprising variety of walks or swims or river activities in the area. In this area trails are marked out very well for off-road walks with great views and through lovely hamlets. The town itself also houses a variety of museums, supermarkets, shops, and places to drink and eat local treats.

I went for the 516 bridge and for the river board walk.
I went for the 516 bridge and for the river board walk. Both met my expectations. However, both the bridge and the board walk are very difficult to find, specially the bridge. I understand that it is protected landscape and they cannot simply build a new road. But at least they could improve the signs on the roads - I found the bridge by mere chance and luck and almost missed the assigned time scheduling - and it is very stressful and frustrating to look for the entrance to those two things. I know this is a common problem on this country (lack of proper signs on the roads seems to be a cultural point of honor, just like cod fish dishes), but enough is enough. The stress and frustration of looking for the places can easily ruin the experience and no one wants that. GPS may not be as helpful as one might think on non-urban environment. New tourists: be advised for this and allocate enough time in your timetable for searching and arrival for this two attractions.

Crossing the 516 Arouca bridge is a must if you don't have a fear of heights! Be warned that there is a 1+km steep downhill walk from the parking lot to the start of the bridge at the Alvarenga entry. Also, if you take the Paiva Walkways after crossing the bridge, the toilets are 4.4 km in, so I suggest that the park put in toilets at the end of the bridge before the walkways.
The posta de vitela at Assembleia restaurant is of high quality. Vegetarian options are so-so, as is true in most restaurants in Portugal.

I was mostly in between nature.
I was mostly in between nature. As long as it's kept like this and the aesthetic of the place is maintained ... all is great! :) Fortunately, because of this, I didn't see many modern houses, which was great!!! :))

Absolutely fantastic place, everything is gorgeous, it’s so relaxing and watching the animals on the balcony with my breakfast was amazing. We were so lucky to have found this little gem. Tony was an amazing host, so friendly, informative and helpful. He really made our stay perfect. We can’t wait to come back. Really couldn’t recommend enough. Thank you ☺️ Oh and I forgot to add just how wonderful it was to eat fresh warm bread that was delivered to our penthouse for breakfast.
We wished we had booked more nights here.
The Hotel Rural Quinta de Novais clearly exceeded our expectations. It has a great location, 5-min away (by car) from Arouca's city center, and it is a great value for money. The rooms are great, the area is beautiful and the breakfast had some (and sufficient) great options. At the reception, we were greeted with kindness and with great restaurant suggestions. Definitely an experience to repeat in the future, and for more than 1 night.
Modern, impeccably clean and very comfortable room next door to historical site (Calvario) with lovely views (we had first floor suite). Warm welcome from Patricia who helped us book to walk the Arouca516 suspension bridge and gave us information on restaurants and local sites. Calm location, a short walk from the town centre. Quality finishings. Communal kitchen and lounge to relax. Thoroughly recommend.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Casa da Cavada. The house is in a stunning location over looking the Paiva river valley below. Our kids enjoyed exploring the interesting garden. The house is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. If we are ever back in Espiunca or Arouca we will definitely look to stay here again.
Good location close to Arouca. Quiet with very little traffic noise. Well equipped kitchen with a good-sized refrigerator. Retro decoration with old books, rotary phone and 60’s vintage microscope; the internet was fast and reliable. Swimming pool and the host gave us some fresh eggs from her hen house.
The views were lovely although it was raining for the duration of our two night stay. The room was very spacious and being a converted farmhouse, had charm. Breakfast was good and staff were helpful. The traditional sweets from Arouca we were given on check out was a fantastic bonus!
Very good place to spend the night, if you want to travel to the Arouca Bridge, (20min).
Everything in good condition and the room was spotless.
The bigest shower stall i ever had the pleasure to use.
I liked it that you can watch Netflix on your TV
Cozy place with the most amazing 180 degrees views to the Valley of Arouca. The host was superfriendly and available at any time. We used the small kitchen to make our breakfast. We also got maps from the host. That helped a lot.
Outstanding property, with very kind and generous people, filled with wonderful animals, coupled with a great scenery, very good looking architecture, and a very central location in the town of Arouca.
I was on a roadtrip in Portugal, late and hurry to find an accomodation for the evening suround Arouca Geopark. So I came in the darkness after a visite of 516Arouca bridge, without a clou, where is
