A breathtakingly beautiful property , with attention to minute detail with a caring and friendly team that delivered an outstanding experience .
The cuisine and service at the award winning Teracu restaurant on the property was simply amazing showcasing the best ingredients in a hearty but yet beautifully presented plates.
Jorge, Francisca , Rafael, Maura and Alexandra were spontaneously warm and hospitable and made the Douro valley stay one of the most memorable highlights of our two and a half week trip to Portugal. An amazing experience on all fronts. Awesome location just a 5 minute walk from the train station. Beautiful place with a very well equiped kitchen, nice living area, amazing terrace with beers in a fridge and lemon trees to zest up your drink. The rooms and bathrooms are well maintained and clean at all times. Pedro and Sarah was extremely welcoming and friendly and Pedro gave an amazing run-down of all the tips and tricks I needed to know about Pinhão to make it the best experience ever. Oh, and they offer you breakfast even though its not mentioned in the description.

We liked the idea it was private, however, it wasn’t. We liked the idea of the pool and the terrace, however, we were not able to use them due to the weather. The breakfast basket had nice food in it, but the apartment wasn’t very well equipped given there were no scissors to open the milk carton with.

We drove to Pinhão.
We drove to Pinhão. The roads are slightly terrifying but the views are spectacular.
We were there in March so not everything was open. Best restaurant was Writers Place! The walking trails through the vineyards were fantastic!

The perfect spot to explore some of the lovely Quintas the Douro Valley has to offer. Would definitely recommend Pinhao as your base. We drove to Pinhao from Porto which was great for sight seeing and super easy. We visited the three Quintas that are within walking distance from Pinhao train station which were lovely. I’d recommend making a reservation in advance for dinners or lunch where possible. But we also did a few walk ins.

Pinhao is stunning. with good selection of restaurants in the evening. Beautiful wineries. As the wineries are built into cliffs the drive to Pinhao and around is not for the faint hearted. The roads are very narrow some without safety barriers. However if you can get past this it is worth it for the scenary. It is a sleepy village but everyone is so friendly. One or two days maximum is enough.

Excellent location on an S bend on the river Douro.
Excellent location on an S bend on the river Douro. Sleepy village atmosphere but with plenty of activities around the railway boat trips and quinta wine tasting. Some good restaurants. Wonderful views if you climb up through the village. Watch out for the dogs though - they are always enclosed but can be extremely aggressive.

The position of this hotel is breath taking and the staff are really helpful. Be careful when booking, some rooms are in the main building but some are away up and down a very, very steep lane. Not for anyone with a disability. We used the restaurant and although the food was lovely, we thought it was a bit pricey. It was good, but not that good.
The 2 bedroom apartment is vast and has a small balcony with a view of the Rio Pinhão. The beds are comfortable and Ana has made sure that we have everything we need to make our stay pleasant. The fridge and freezer were well supplied, we had a surprize cheese plate awaiting us, hot, fresh bread every morning, an extensive list of things to do in the area. Ana was kind enough to help me with suggestions for a special restaurant for Valentine's Day. There's also a washing machine. We're staying here again if we return!
It’s very spacious and comfortable. The queen beds were also comfortable. We particularly enjoyed the balcony overlooking the river. The host provided us with a bottle of wine, some breakfast food and each day a wonderful fresh loaf of bread was delivered to our door. The property is on the Main Street of Pinhão and convenient to the boat docks and restaurants although some restaurants were not open when we visited (April). We were able to park on the street near the apartment and we felt our car was safe. Recommend.
Host’s very welcoming and helpful, resolving an issue with the door very quickly. Property was very clean and had great amenities for a small room. A helpful tip if you stay in this property, is that the bed lifts up so you can store your luggage. Lovely to also have a terrace to enjoy, with a good view of the Douro and only a short walk to the river itself. Superb location and highly recommended Pinhao as a place to stop and enjoy the beautiful Douro region.
Such a great hotel with great views of the Douro valley. Make sure to visit the wine shop and get a bottle for your room. Room was larger than expected with a balcony facing the water. The on site restaurant was excellent and the breakfast was exceptional. The pool is great and very relaxing. The hotel is about a 15 minute walk from the Pinaho train station which goes to Porto if you do not have a car. Highly recommend.
Pedro and Rita were wonderful hosts for our trip to Pinhão. Their apartment is in a nice location close to the train station, they provided great recommendations for how to spend our time in the Douro Valley, and delivered a lovely breakfast to the door in the morning. They were also very easy to communicate with before and during our stay. I would highly recommend this lodging!
Fantastic guest house just off the main street in Pinhao. Our host, Pedro, was extremely helpful, messaging us a few days before we arrived with details of the room, how to get there, local attractions etc. He was also available in his Family-run café just down the road and took our luggage on the day of departure while we waited for the train back to Porto.
I had a great time in Pinhão. Pedro and Sara were such amazing hosts. They were helpful, full of local knowledge and go the extra mile. I felt welcomed all the time. They made me feel like at home. The best hostel I've ever stayed, it was more like staying in a friend's place. Sure thing I will definitely return and spend more time in Pinhão next time.
It is a very quiet place, a tiny village. We liked very much the pool as it was extremely hot. The possibility for self service, using the fridge for storing our cheese for the evening meal we made for ourselves (note you have to buy all your groceries in Pinhao) sitting outside in the evening was Fabolous.
I am usually suspicious of places where the reviews seem too good to be true, but every glowing review has been well earned. Pedro and Sara could not have been more friendly and hospitable hosts, and our experience in Pinhao was made by our stay in the hostel.
Modern design with great parking and elevator. Facilities and fitting are modern. Great view of the Douro. Having a car is a big plus as the hotel is overlooking Pinhao on a steep hillside about a mile out of the town. Staff were excellent.
Lovely location. Pinhao is a beautiful town and all the places in the town are walkable. The host Francisco made our stay memorable and helped us at every stage. The house has all the facilities and makes one feel at home.
The hosts were very nice and hospitable. They were very kind and offered us on several occasions pasteis de nata and made us tonic ports. The views over the river Douro and Pinhao from the verandah are just amazing!
We liked the fact that the hotel information stated that the hotel is located 3000' or .6 miles from Pinhao (city center), which meant we could walk to restaurants, shops & tastings & would not need to drive.
Incredible view. Join the evening meal at least one night to meet fellow travelers from different countries. Book a tour at the olive museum near the hotel. Visit the other Quintas at the top of the hill.
Only the espetacular views of the Douro river are worth staying at The Vintage. And on top of that one still gets a very comfortable room, cozy ambience, great food and so much good taste.
