There is no beach in the bay. You have to travel further afield. It would be good to know when your chosen hotel/accommodation is on a steep hill. Cat Ba has a great little market, a few good restaurants, good foot massage and friendly folks

Cat Ba is a nice spot to just chill.
Cat Ba is a nice spot to just chill. There is good accommodation around and lots of eating place to choose from. You can also spend 8 hours cruising on the bay if you wish with lunch included. The cruise was very enjoyable. Oasis restaurant on the main street is a great place to eat, drink or have a cup of coffee. The food is great there. They have a pool table there and it's free to play. If you want to go to the beach, it's near the Flamingo Resort which is a 20 minutes walk to the left of the main road if you're facing the bay.

The full day trip on Lan ha bay with canoeing was exceptional - what a magnificent area, clear water, no rubbish and beautiful seascapes. The hike into the National park was brilliant and well worth the effort. Easy to do on your own without a tour. The two caves were well worth the visit. Several lovely little beaches within walking distance from town.KayAustralia

The room was super clean, no bugs or mosquitoes were noticed, and it was quiet too! The location is quite central, about two minutes to the Main Street, but at the same time it’s not crowded. I really enjoyed staying there and would recommend this hotel to anyone!

The room is good, it has two beds where you sleep well, a refrigerator and a sink inside the room. In the morning you have included a typical Vietnamese sandwich (Banh mi) and a coffee or tea. Although I didn't need it because it wasn't hot, the air conditioning didn't work, that's why I give it 4 stars and not 5. It is located in the tourist area of the island, so within a few minutes walk you will find a variety of shops and restaurants

They have a small restaurant for the guests which is pretty convenient, and the homestay is located right in the middle of the island, surrounded by nature, but they rent motorbikes so you can explore this beautiful place. A stone throw away from several bars, cafes, restaurants and the main beaches, so scooter rental is not always necessary. The staff, especially reception were all lovely, incredibly warm and helpful with any request that was made. For the price of the hotel per night, it is truly great value for money.
