The beautiful scenery of mountain and wildlife while driving to the property. The cottage style and furnishings are absolutely breathtaking. The decor reflects the nature outside. In the morning you are greeted by wildlife in front of the cottage and we were able to have coffee on the stoep with deer standing on the lawn. The area offers a lot of unique dining options but should you want to you can prepare absolutely anything in the kitchen as you’ll have everything you need.

Piccadilly Farm Cottages, hotel in Lions River

Featuring mountain views, Piccadilly Farm Cottages in Lions River features accommodations, pool with a view, a garden, and barbecue facilities.

It's peaceful, very well appointed with everything we needed. Gas heater and loadshedding lights. Electric blankets and lovely bedding . All new gas appliances including a gas geyser, and a very convenient position for the main meander route. Really lovely people that own the cottages too. A great surprise was that the cottage now has its own wifi. I highly recommend this place for a chilled, down to earth home away from home farm stay experience.

Penny is an amazingly helpful and friendly hostess (who also provided us with delicious cake and bread!). This is the second time we have stayed at Mission House as it's perfect for family gatherings. It's spacious enough to host a large family or friend contingent without feeling that you are under each other's feet all the time, and the large sized pantry cupboard and the fridge/freezer combo, along with other mod-cons like dishwasher etc. mean that you really can settle in for a few days of relaxed bliss on their farm. Magnificent views of rolling hills, a spectacular light-show offered by a thunderstorm in the afternoon, and friendly horses and cows meandering around the house made for a deeply relaxing stay. The horribly pot-holed Curry's Post Road has been dramatically improved since our last visit, and new water pumps around the house made for a much-improved bathing and showering experience (the first time we stayed, we felt rather bad because the taps spewed water out rather wildly, so this was a big improvement). The location - because it is now more accessible to drive on thanks to road improvements - is also ideal for exploring the Midlands Meander, and nearby coffee shops mean that you don't need to go far for your early morning fix.

It is not far from the free way yet once you reach the place it feels like you are far because of it's isolated location. It is therapeutic to look out the window and see bucks roaming not far from the cottages. I came back calm and relaxed as if I had visited the rural area because of the beautiful vegetation in the property. I will definitely go back whenever I need to be away from the urban noise and air pollution.

Lion's River is a beautiful area, in actual fact I would rate it as a hidden gem. There are many places to stop off at and I certainly would recommend it and visit the area again. The Nelson Mandela Capture site is closeby, many coffee shops and places of interest. Granny Mouse Country House, Piggly Wiggly, St Ive's; just to name a few.

I loved the setting, it is remote and quiet, very much a nature lovers place. The cottage was clean, comfortable and private. I was there for a wedding at The Barn Owl so that's mostly where I ate but Howick Spar is a short 13km away with a pharmacy too for just in case.
