Location is fine and the manager was very suspicious and thought my friend and I were drug addicts as a friend was murdered we were grieving his death and crying and bent over so noone could see our sorrow they stereotyped.us like homeless people. When we left she did a 20 minute inspection I'm.guesding to see if she could detect ashes or tin foild so she could cash in the 200 dollar damage deposit.. something I've heard is done at that hotel many times. The 200 dollar damage deposit is not refunded at a lot of hotels especially if your not well dressed and the hotels can get away with this. That makes the hotels more criminal.like than the people who stay at the hotel.
I work with the homeless and help.them when they need a warm something or water or a ride to.hospital or check.to.see if they have life in them when it's very cold.
The hotel also has cockroaches and there are glue traps hidden every where. Not recommended but would staying the only room left in Duncan

Duncan is best experienced outside of town for trails lakes and nature in general. Try an AirBnb. There are a few within 20 minutes or so from town in beautiful settings. To Eat, go to Romeo's. I had one of the award winning pizzas, and it didn't disappoint

Sadly, this town seems quite depressed, with little that was visually appealing, and many homeless folks wandering the streets. Seems to be a good jumping point, to get fuelled up, get groceries, do laundry etc, before continuing to stay elsewhere.

The Cowichan Valley region (incl.
The Cowichan Valley region (incl. Duncan, Cowichan Bay, Cowichan Lake, Chemainus, Ladysmith.) has restored, sweet, old towns with plenty of outdoor informative signs, images, murals about local history, walking, cycling and equestrian trails to renovated trestle bridges (Kinsol Trestle is the biggest and most impressive one), the best river tubing in the pristine water of the Cowichan river, clean lakes with nice beaches for swimming, ecotourism with wineries, cideries, distilleries and breweries, all in beautiful settings. Don't miss the Hand of Man museum in Mill's Bay. Easily explored within 4 days with a car. All the municipalities are easily explored on foot. We were never disappointed with the food either and they have gluten free options everywhere on the menus.

I know Duncan well as I was born here.
I know Duncan well as I was born here. I came to town to attend a concert. I took advantage of the great shopping. I enjoyed dinner at Mr Mike’s prior to the show. Lots of restaurants within walking distance from the theatre and also the hotel.

This hotel is old, run down, and downright scary.
This hotel is old, run down, and downright scary. My husband refused to get out of the car! The "guests" who happened to be outside were standing in huddles that appeared more like a drug deal going in. One women was outside her room in saying only a towel. Rooms were full of stale cigarette smoke. Do not book a room here. My only saving grace was that the manager told me the room hasn't been charged yet.

We've been there many times.
We've been there many times. Small quaint town; lots of restaurants, shopping and a casino for those who like that (not me), lots of totem poles. We are there every summer to attend the Cowichan Folk Music Festival, which was the reason for this trip as well. Easy to get to by car/bus as the main highway runs right through it; could get there by boat as well. By air would most likely be via Nanaimo or Victoria and then an hour drive either way to Duncan. Outdor music performances every night in July in town.
It was very close to the Aquatic Centre in Duncan, where I was attending a Swim Meet. It was easy to get in and out of, and close to a number of eating establishments. Parking was next to my room, so that was good. Pretty quiet considering the motel is right beside the main highway. The room had a kitchen, which was useful, and an enormous fridge.
The b&b is in the outskirts of Duncan, near the sea, in a calm and green area (as a bonus there were 3 deers in the garden!); the hosts are wonderfull and wellcoming and the homemade breakfast was amazing. The room was spotlessly clean and parking was easy on the yard in front of the house (spacious enough even for the large vehicle we had been given).
We liked nothing. This is the most disgusting hotel, I have ever stayed in the cost was $142.00 for 1 night..
Stink bugs all over the room on the ceiling, windows and walls. Dirty, cigarette butts and garbage under the bed. Even a used toilet paper still on the roll..You enter the building there is also rodent traps.
It was very convenient for the Swim Meet we were attending at the Duncan Aquatic Centre. It was close to eating establishments, and easy to find and exit. SO GLAD the Air Conditioning was really good !! Very Hot weekend, and coming back to the room was a big sigh of relief !!
Everything was great! Over and above our expectations. It was within walking distance from the person we were visiting. It was also easy for us to find our way around Duncan. Loved the extra space compared to a hotel room. Will highly recommend to anyone going to the area.
Location is easy to find. Teresa (the host) is a very nice lady. She even turned on the fan for us before we arrived. Our room is quiet as we requested. Bathroom is spacious. and clean, everything you need is there. Bed is exceptionally comfortable.
Great place and my parents stayed at this hotel in the 1980'sand were so happy staying at the thunderbird I had to try it myself and totally agree. Very nice and couldn't be happier and trying to book another night for Monday night.
Loved the size of the room. Had a nice big sitting area. The outdoor pool was great. Staff were all Amazing. Close to everything. Nice to have a Restaurant attached to hotel, and it was really good
Would definitely stay again!!
We have stayed at this hotel before and found it good, well priced for the quality of the hotel. It is well maintained and clean and the attached restaurant offers a basic menu at good prices and quality.
Family suite is very clean and newly renovated. Bed is comfortable. Shower has great water pressure. Wi-Fi is good. Hotel manager Tracy is friendly and helpful. For the value, all the basic stuff is there.
The unit was comfortable.. it had a fully equipped kitchen. The neighborhood was quiet and was easy access to transit. Could easily walk to most things in Duncan. It is an older building but clean
Great quiet location to access downtown Duncan - or get out to the Cowichan valley north of town.
Very clean, full size appliances in the kitchen, and washer-dryer in the bathroom.
Very big, nice renovated townhouse. Two bedrooms, 2 and half bathrooms makes the stay very comfortable. It also has washer and dryer. Check in/out instructions was clear.
