Very nice guesthouse, well maintained, with a beautiful garden and, above all, a very pleasant welcome. Dinner and breakfast were excellent. On the second day of our stay we took a day tour organized by the guesthouse. In retrospect, this was one of the most wonderful days of our four-week trip through Malaysia.

We've had an amazing stay (two nights). Friendly communication through WhatsApp. Our room was full of handy facilities: like for example coffee, world plug, two bottles of drinking water (received it again on our second day), fan and AC.
Our room was also clean. Oh yeah, you have your own private veranda outside. The location is also very quiet but close to the main streets (few minutes walking). It's also a few minutes walking to the drop off point of the minivan from Jerantut. Our bed was very comfy and you have a clothing rack outside to dry your wet clothes from the jungle trips :P

I got upgraded because the dorms were under renovation. The double room was very comfortable, even better for that price. The owners were very friendly, I got to eat with them in the evening.

Beautiful property, friendly owner, and good breakfasts! Our room was spacious and comfortable and had everything we needed. WiFi in the common space worked very well. Location is a bit outside of town, which we liked because it was so peaceful and gorgeous! We even saw hornbills at breakfast!!

Ann is such a lovely person. She's full of energy and feels like a hostel Mom. She's right there to give advice for adventures, and is extremely knowledgeable on the region. She makes the visit so much fun! The two of us ended up staying up super late one night, just talking about life. I want to go back!!!

The night hikes were back to back groups so with crowds and noise no chance of seeing animals. You definitely should bring your own torch as you can't see where you are stepping and there are some slippery spots. Personally wouldn't do again.
The canopy was nice albeit very narrow with only 4 allowed on it at a time. You are not allowed to stop or take photographs. Having to focus on my footing and not being able to stop and look makes it just going for a walk.
Going through the rapids and getting wet is accomplished by guide literally rocking boat.
The stop at village was the best part of trip. Fascinating how fire was started and the use of blow gun which we go to try.

Kuala Tahan is a nice little village with just a few shops and restaurants. But of course the main thing to do is to go to the national park. We choose to do a one day tour, which we really enjoyed. You cross the river and there is the entrance where you get your permit. They inform you about everything and everyone was very nice. I really recommend doing a tour because you learn a lot about nature and living in the rainforest. The canopy walk was also so beautiful! You can do some things on your own however, for most of the trails you need a guide to accompany you. There were some challenging parts about the hike. You need to be fit to hike up and down in the humid climate. But it was a very nice challenge and I would recommend it to everyone!
If you want to eat out I recommend the floating restaurants down by the river. The people are really friendly and welcoming and the food is good, for a fair price!

We stayed 3 nights and had 2 days to explore which was fine to do both some day and night walks in the jungle as well as a river trip to the small waterfall. Crossing the river to actually get to the jungle site is very easier. You just go down to one of the floating restaurants and ask them to take you across. Fees are fixed at 1 RMB per person. Your entrance permit is valid for all days so make sure to keep it with you at all times - also when doing river cruises.

Like the staff! All very nice and helpful.
Like the staff! All very nice and helpful. We also had laundry done for seven people and it came back in a day and was very clean and organized. You can book excursions right from the lodge. You can drink the water, so would have liked a large water container to fill up on our own. They left two small bottles a day, but that is not enough and we had to purchase water. Good selection at breakfast. Bathroom was always hot, as no windows, just open to the wild, so had to keep door closed at all times.

Love the jungle.
Love the jungle. Fab eco forest. 4 days would be enough as quite limited trails/walking. Small village that offered limited restaurants- 3 - and the 4 shops sell mostly the same limited stuff, so you do need to take supplies. No animals seen, they keep quiet which is fine, it’s their territory. It is quaint tho, and enjoyed my time there. Would certainly recommend a visit.
Very clean and insect-free for a hotel at the edge of a tropical national park. Property is a 5 minute walk to the jetty for crossing to the national park. The staff at the front desk are very friendly and’s helpful with booking every activity available at fair prices, and departing straight from the hotel. Free shuttle car to the bus station on checkout day was a bonus. Also if you book a private boat to Lata Berkoh, the dedicated boarding location is just down the grassy hill behind the hotel.
We enjoyed a 4 night stay at Balai Serama and loved every minute! The two hosts couldn’t do more for you and were very friendly and helpful! They appreciate that their place is not within walking distance to the town and so offer lifts to and from whenever is convenient for you.
The 1 day trip to Kuala Sat is exclusive with this guesthouse and was our personal highlight of our stay in Taman Negara! Beautiful gardens and very nice rooms topped off this incredible stay. Highly recommended!
Luka, the host, was very knowledgeable and made us feel right at home. Provided us with very good tips and recommendations regarding the area such as places to eat and places to go that is not common. The room and toilet were very clean, the bed was very comfortable and it was spacious enough for the 4 of us. Love the concept of the open dining area and the view was great too. Parking is provided too for those with cars and it is just a short drive to Taman Negara.
It is one of the best places in Taman Negara. You don’t need to worry about the location because Taman Negara is really small and you we get tho the river in 5 minutes.
The owner was really nice and he is a really good chef. He even took us to the river so we wouldn’t miss our boat.
The WiFi don’t work in the rooms but you get really WiFi in the lobby and it’s okay, because you are not going to be that much time in your room.
I totally recommend you to stay here
It seems that Taman Negara is not the place to stay when you look for great accommodation. After some research we chose this one, and it was average. All places in the village seem a bit run down and were probably in their best shape some years ago. But we had a decent stay, just make sure you go to the village for the jungle and not for the best accommodation and then it is all fine. Rooms are clean, aircon works
The host Jason is super friendly and helpful. I felt very welcomed. The rooms are spacous and the aircon is working well. The view is very nice. You can get hot and cold water for drinking.
The rooms were cleaned every day.
We booked our night jungle walk with him and we got a great guide who explained a lot.
The wifi was also very good.
If I come to taman negara I would defenetly come back to this hostel!
Taman Negara is a great place to see. We really enjoyed the boat rides (down to Kuala Trembling and night animal watching), the walks around the hotel, and the visit to the Orang Asli village. Be sure to take the hotel arranged night walk first thing to get an idea of where walks, hides, etc... are located. Overall we enjoyed the park.
Very confortable Hostel in Kuala Tahan (close to Taman Negara Park), it has curtains so it was more privacy. Also a socket and a light right at the bed. Good for backpackers. Nice atmosphere. Ann and Nana were both really great
Loved our stay at Naura Homestay. Rooms were very clean and comfy. The homestay was within a 5 min. drive to the Tahan Ferry and hence very close to all the nearby hiking hotspots. two thumbs up!!
Super-friendly and helpful reception staff who arranged lots of rainforest tours for us - they made it so easy for us to enjoy everything Taman Negara has to offer.
